Gaming lag when someone else on the network loads a webpage

Thread Starter
I have BT installed with a standard BT router and it games OK. However, when someone else on the network loads a webpage, it causes lag during gaming. Given that the gaming traffic should take priority, is this something I can control with my BT router or will I need to buy a new router? I am not sure if it has a QoS option. If I need to buy a router, what recomendations do people have? It must work with my BT connection of course.

Usually when you log into a DSL based device you can see at what speed you are connected at in kilobits.

once you know this speed, run do a speed test to your ISP ( they should have a speed test function on thier website) and do a test on speedtest.net letting it find the best server to test to.. if the test results are fairly close to you sync speed then you connection with your isp should be optimal.
note that they wont match, just aslong as they are close smile.gif

for a router i dont think you need something that can be flashed with an open source firmware so my recomendation would be ASUS RT-N56U Wireless Router.
you can connect a USB drive to it and the router supports BT.
