Thread Starter
About 8 months ago I got a OCZ Vertex 2 and it broke so I sent it in and go another one. Well that one broke after about 3 months so im wondering what is a speedy model (when I say that i mean fast for HDDs not other top of the line SSDs) thats not going to fry in a matter of months I want something that is going to last at lest a year. Any advice welcome.

My list of suggested drives:
  • Crucial M4
  • Samsung 830/470
  • Corsair Performance Pro
  • Plextor M3 Series
  • Intel 510/320

Anything else (SandForce) is unreliable and not up to par for me.

There isn't that much difference in price between Sata 2 & 3 drives.

If you go Sata 3, it works just fine on Sata 2 but when you upgrade your board in the future, you'll have a fast drive waiting.

I'm not surprised your Vertex broke on you twice. It's a common story shared by people on here.

Go with a Crucial m4. Very reliable and made with quality internals.

I've heard a lot of great things from Crucial SSD's, they appear to be of very high quality.

I agree. The Samsungs are a good price. I would say they are probably OK if your trying to save a dollar.

I did not know that sata 3 was backwards compatible. That's pretty awesome.

I also agree with this list. I own two M4's and will be getting a Plextor M3 in the mail today based upon reviews I have seen.

Yes they are. smile.gif

+1 for M4's. They are excellent drives and their support even more so.

Also, whatever Sean Webster says is gospel. Listen to him. At least in the realm of SSDs, everything else, I don't... know....
