Sometimes a good mouse will help, i improved from being a lame player becoming a average player.

I'm relatively certain this is one of those ubiquitous "netcode issues." During the beta, BF3 had a very obvious late hit registration issue where people would run completely into cover and die a moment later from someone who 100% could not see them. Some instances just weren't remotely debatable. I believe that was due to client-side hosting? Not sure. The game had noticeably improved after release, but the gameplay still isn't seamless.

Yes, I've experienced the same issue where you appear to have a significant initiative on an enemy in a 1v1, but you then seem to die from only 1 or 2 actual hits (even non-headshots) meanwhile the 8 or so bullets that you accurately fired before you were being shot at somehow didn't matter. I have observed that the enemy's health stat shown during the deathcam is only a snapshot of the enemy's health when they killed you; otherwise, the deathcam wouldn't show you a dead enemy, that you got the credit for killing (a "double death"), still with 11% health. I've figured that, with the lag issues, a player in motion can see a stationary enemy sooner than the other way around, but that's just a guess and the result questionable.

Some weapons are statistically superior (i.e., quicker killers). They just are. Some examples would be the AEK, AS VAL, F2000, FAMAS, M98B (for snipers), etc. Better weapon selection will somewhat improve your odds in 1v1s and other dicey situations, but you will have those bs encounters. I used the Scar when it was all the rage. It got nerfed and, while still usable, I didn't like it's inaccuracy with automatic firing, so I switched over to the G36C. I played that up to 1400 kills and still felt I was dieing too quickly, so I did some actual "research" and switched again to the M4A1. Those are all Engineer guns, btw. I've since taken the M4A1 to 1350 kills, and I prefer it over the G36C (more accurate/less recoil). I found this website informative when I was researching gun damage. As it turns out, most weapons have very similar/identical damage charts, so it's actually the rate of fire, recoil, and perhaps bullet travel speed that differentiate them.

For the person who mentioned dieing on respawn, that's a separate issue. I believe we are only currently given one second of spawn protection, half of which seems to be taken up by loading your screen and the rest by orienting yourself. You can also spawn in an enemy's direct line of sight if all the more preferable spawns are taken (i.e., crowded server). Furthermore, your spawn protection may be removed by moving your camera in the slightest, I'm not sure. DICE was looking into increasing spawn protection to two seconds. You can't make it out of every bad spawn, but sometimes you can bet bad spawns on some maps, like Kharg Island TDM, and use that to you advantage.

After a certain point, you've made all the material improvements that you can and are at the mercy of the game. Or are you wink.gif?
  • Make better choices
  • Improve your reflexes
  • ???
  • Profit
Your hardware is limiting your potential slightly, but an upgrade won't guarantee better results. You want at least 60 frames--not "good enough" at 40--and your mouse probably isn't doing you any favors. Lower your shadows, textures, turn off AA and AO, and/or terrain details to get that low detail advantage lol.

I feel your pain OP, it's this reason I stopped playing BF3. I can't believe that for an a fps game they screwed the network side of things so much. BC2 and CSS all the way.

This. BF3 was overhyped and there was no way for it to deliver a game changing experience to the FPS genre. There's so many problems with the game and hackers are running rampant. It's so obvious, last game there was a guy on my team with 71 kills and 3 deaths.

Should I turn it all the way down..?

If you want to perform the best then yes put it all the way down for the lowest amount of latency.

It does mess with the animations a bit though.

Did he use the MAV?
Cause there was a guy like that on Metro who just used the MAV. We lost the game because of that.

Hmm has diced stated that a patch is in the works to fix the netcode and the numerous bugs? I don't think theres been an update since b2k. I think they reached their targeted sales and don't care as much
post #29 of 50
I've had this issue before. It's only on select servers though.

Considering I'm playing on Ultra with x2 470's on a U2412M I don't experience it graphically. It's mostly on the network side of things in my opinion.

I doubt it, I wish they did though. But DICE has a history of god awful netcode in their games, BF3 is no exception.
