I'm building a new gaming rig right now and I need to know what I want as a display.
From what I hear, 120Hz TN and 60Hz IPS both have their Pro and Con.....Making it hard to make a decision...

Any of you know when are the new gen Display are coming ? Are we talking about IPS 120Hz only or is there anything else to be released soon ? OLED (just heard of it..)

My #1 priority is to have the most beautiful and smooth 2D visual gaming experience possible.. (no competitive gaming or such, it that can be a factor of decision).
I see as many peoples swearing by the 120Hz as for the 60Hz IPS ... this is getting confusing..

The rig will be for gaming only.

A 120hz IPS 1600p would be the shizzle!
Hopefully in 2012 but don't hold your breathe.

Ok then, I'll have to pick a 60Hz IPS or 120Hz TN

...
Any of you know some 120Hz that still have good image quality ? All I hear from 120Hz is "very smooth but much less vivid color than IPS"

The only 120Hz IPS monitor currently available that I know is Mitsubishi Viseo 23'' MDT231WG monitor.  This one sells around US$600 equivalent.

Other than this, LD 27'' DM92 appeared in CES last month and should come out to the market in a few months.

And, I heard that a couple more 120Hz IPS monitors are supposed to arrive in second half of this year.

Now THAT'S some good news.

You know if the MDT231WG has good review ? Is it better than both IPS and 120Hz TN ?

As far as i know, that model is 60hz with interpolation. Not only does it not display 120 fps produced by the graphics card, it probably just adds input lag into the mix.

Sorry... 120hz means it's TN, and that means color reproduction isn't as hi-fi as IPS.

So I guess the only way I can decide is by going at a retail store and compare...
i won't wait for one....you could be waiting for years....unless there is official news on it...don't expect it anytime soon...imho. Just go with a good quality 120hz TN...like the Samsung 750D (23" 1080p)....i have one and also a HP zr24w IPS (24" 1200p)....both are great...but the 120hz Samsung is amazing for gaming. Colors are very good as well...

I actually like the screen size and aspect ratio (16:10) on my IPS better...but 120hz is def. smoother in BF3...1 of each ftw! dual screens!

Now if they came out with a 120hz 24" 16:10 monitor...i would be all over that...my Samsung 750D 23" 1080p is a tad bit to small imo..and the Samsing 750D 27" 1080p might be a tad to big for 108p..not sure tho.
