RMA worthy? Would they even?

Well I have owned my BlackWidow Ultimate for a few weeks now, and I do love it.

I had some problems I noticed right away with a slightly crooked "R" key, and some problems with my "O" and "8" key.

They seem to have lost their click (MX Blue switches btw). If I slightly and slowly press down on the key, I can feel the key click, but I don't really hear the click of the key, and if I just press down on it like normal, it almost feels like a Red switches, with a slight more resistance.

It being those 2 keys didn't get under my skin to much, but now I noticed it is like that with not only the "O", and the "8", but also the "Page Dow", "+", and "9 on numberpad".

So in total, 5 keys don't click like they are supposed to. The keys still function fine, and register just fine, but I just find it as an annoyance.


Is this a problem I can fix myself? Should I RMA it? Is it even RMA worth, or will Razer just blow me off?

I would contact razer and see what they say. I have heard that getting a good blackwidow can be kinda hit or miss. Mine has been working perfectly and I haven't had any of those sort of problems, and when I buy a $130 keyboard I expect nothing short of perfection.

The click happens in the switch, so unless you are comfortable with removing and opening the switch then it isn't something you could troubleshoot/fix yourself. I'd RMA it personally.

Would I have any problems RMA'ing it when I bought the keyboard from a website that is not on their list of re-sellers?

I never thought to think about that when i bought the keyboard, and Amazon was out of stock when I wanted to buy it, so I looked around about bought it from CPUSolutions. I have a reciept and everything with the keyboard.

I have never RMA'd a razer product before but with all of the other RMAs I have done the serial number is usually the only thing they ask for.

Well a no go on the RMA. Apparently since the keyboard is still functioning fine, they won't exchange it.

Did just that. I contacted CPUSolutions, and they offered to exchange it through Razer (I was at the very end of the 30 day warranty).

I would actually like to return it, and spend the extra money and buy a Ducky. So I emailed them back asking if I am able to return it without paying for shipping. If I can only exchange it, I will just keep the keyboard.

The problem doesn't bother me too much, so I can live with it. Probably try to sell it locally.

That's a shame. I have had my Black Widow Expert for about three weeks now without issues. Except the 6 key is a bit crooked and the backspace key feels stiffer then it should be.
