what kind of overclocking do you want to do? little overclocking than something like the cooler master hyper 212+ would be fine but if you want to push the limits go with a corsair h80 or 100, Noctua D-14or something in that higher range.

I'm thinking about maybe hitting 4Ghz most likely.

Hyper 212+ is perfectly fine for 4 GHZ. If fact, I am running 4.5 here and It keeps me very safe (under 70C ) while folding. Under 40C idle.

4GHz is a fairly easy and small overclock for a 2600K imo. If you want to go to 4.8GHz or try for 5.0GHz and push the voltage in the high ranges than I would go to a corsair H100 (water). biggrin.gif

I'm getting a 2500k, haha. Basically the only thing I'm still very up in the air about is the motherboard...I just can't decide. And I see it as being the most essential component. A very good friend of mine recommended that this would be a good mainboard.

Mistype tongue.gif. I meant 2500k. I've seen 2500k's at 4.8GHz so if you want that speed think about dropping a little more $ on a good cooler. I don't have any experience with MSI boards but I know the reviews are good, they look awesome and come with nice features. That is a nice price for a board like that too. Here's a review I was looking at: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2011/01/13/msi-p67a-gd65-review/1

I know some people recommend P68 or Z68 boards....but if you have a dedicated video card (which you do) and you don't care about the extra little features than a p67 is fine imo.

I just got ripped on by my brother because apparently getting a new system with a 2500k and a new motherboard is a waste of money, and the new AMD processors completely out-preform Intel's processors. Should I honestly just upgrade what I have now...or build a new system? I'd really like to go Intel.

You're making the same mistake nearly everyone on this forum makes when doing gaming builds. Spend less on the motherboard and ram and forget the SSD for now. Take all that money and add it to your video card since it is the largest contributor to gaming performance by a mile. Leaving the SSD out for now not only allows you to buy a much better, and needed video card, but it allows a nice upgrade path for down the road. Trust my advice, I've built more gaming computers than you could possibly imagine. Nothing I'm telling you is guesswork wink.gif
