that is absolutely NOT true. AMD's latest processors actually have been argued to perform WORSE than their previous-gen Phonom II's on several occasions! Anyone on OCN will tell you that they will guarantee that Intel's 2500k is likely to be the best bang-for-buck CPU available currently. It is much faster than AMD's CPUs, runs cooler, uses less power, and Overclocks much easier. Stick with 2500k, you wont regret it. thumb.gif

As to if you should spend money right now? That is up to you.

If your brother is referring to bulldozer then he is sorely mistaken.

2500k vs FX-8150
2500k vs Phenom II 1090T

This is completely correct. The i5-2500k is incredible bang-for-buck. Upgrading to an i7-2600k would net extremely marginal gains in terms of frame rate given the steeper price.

what sccr said.

you dont need anything more than an asus p8p67 pro or msi p67a-gd55/65. gd65 gets great reviews. though some claim llc is 'broken'
move just your new vengeance ram over
a 212+ or 212+ evo will cool 4.8 fine. more than enough for A 4.5ghz clock

you want a minimum of 560ti 448 core for the money you want to spend.

then again, i wouldnt buy that case. the cooler master v6 is quite nice for the price.
as ive said before, imma cheapskate. i do spend money on what needs money though.

Yeah, I knew from the start that the 2500k is better. But then again, it never hurts to have some back-up if they persist to argue. biggrin.gif

I'm not exactly sure if I want to be dropping almost $300 on a video card. :/ I mean I know it's a gaming build and all, but my budget is only 1k. And I'd like to add a 2nd monitor, peripherals...etc.

spend it now or wish you had once you start playing.
a 560 ti is better than twice the performance.
buy a second 1 later and you spent the extra 150 anyway and still only get a little performance than a single gtx 470

I plan on getting a 560 Ti, but does it have to be the 448 cores version?

Go Z68, spend less on e power supply and more on the graphics card
post #29 of 40
truthfully ..i prefer 960T @ 4.3 over 2500K @ 4.8..well..that's how it is for me..
no 30 sec lag ...when you click something with AMD
half a second and it's there
click something with the intel..you're like.."didn't i click that"?..then it pops up..30 seconds later
yes..2500k gives better benchmarks
is it snappier? in some place yes..in other places no
i tells it like it is tongue.gif
for videocard..6870 2gb yessir.gif

What's better about the Z68 boards versus the board I picked out?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130574

I do apologize if my questions are being quite redundant, as I feel they are. I just want to get the best bang for my buck here like we all do. Am I right?
