Yea my course of action would be to first let it sit with no changes for a day and make sure nothing goes to hell. Then tomorrow get your CPU going because that will be a big increase in overall folding, then make sure that goes okay for a while. Then once you are able reliably on GPU as is and have added the CPU with no ill effects then start increasing your GPU OC by 5 or 10 MHz at a time and waiting a day or more to be sure it is still stable. That way you will keep the amount of variable or opportunities for something to go wrong as low as possible during each step. GL though, I think I can do just about 940 at 1.15v but it's too hot for me to fold on at that voltage personally.

4 minute intervals. Changed drivers, rebooted. Using systray instead of tracker v2 and not running -smp.

PROFIT. thumb.gif

Now I've just got to figure out how to -smp -advmethods for OCN without it screwing up my TC score. I don't understand why it kills my gpu ppd. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Alright, for setting up SMP with GPU, I have found that what works best for me is to keep the GPU running only 762X WUs (-advmethods WUs) and to disable core affinity lock on the GPU. I also increased the autosend/check time to 30 minutes from the default 15 and set the GPU priority to low (which is higher than idle).

The SMP client is then set to default idle priority and as I'm on a 4 core i5-2500K I forced the -smp 4 flag into it. I'm also running -advmethdos (not to be confused with -bigadv) on the SMP and I disabled core affinity lock on the SMP client as well as set the autosend/check time to 30 minutes from the default 15 minutes.

I'm able to maintain 3:44 TPF @ 900 MHz core / 1800 MHz shader / 2106 MHz VRAM @ 1.150V Any voltage less than this on my specific card gives me a 1% to 10% chance of NAN if I try to do any sort of multi-tasking at all, such as web browsing with Firefox here at OCN (which seems to cause them reliably at lower voltages) or gaming, which seems to cause them less frequently.

Even 918 MHz introduced a tiny chance of NAN's but I've never had one at 900 / 1.150V. Your mileage will (obviously) vary.

With your better VRM circuitry, there's a chance that you'll be able to fold stable at 918 or 925 core. I highly doubt you'll be able to do 950 core at 100% reliability though, given that you're already rather high in voltage for your specific card. There's no shame in staying at 900 for stability purposes. Furthermore, if you do increase things further, it's probably best if you don't try to take your memory higher with the core as the memory isn't binned; only the GPUs are binned.

When you pass me up in Div2 next month because I game more often than you do, you can thank me by adding a few -oneunit flags to your GPU so that I can maintain my place. ph34r-smiley.gif

Mine can hit 950 or so with gaming but only 925 with those -advmethod GPU WU, on the same volts You should be able to sneak a few more megahertz into that clock. But yeah, just nurse it for a few days and see how it goes.

He may or may not be able to, depending on how many standard deviations better than the norm for the binning process of his GPU. Some of the factory classified/lightnings are down at 1.100V at that 900 MHz core clock and I'm confident that at 1.150V they could handle 950 or maybe even 962 folding -advmethods. But given that he's already at 1.150V from the factory... not as likely, without a voltage bump.

With alot of gear it appears a hit and miss affair with OCing, especially with the GTX500 series these days. Thats not to say he shouldnt give it a go. smile.gif

I found flash (Firefox/chrome) browser was down clocking 1 of my 480's
I just paused FAH and reloaded drivers (latest beta) and worked fine, until next flash page frown.gif ,
So I uninstalled flash and now no more down clocking

Yes, I stumbled upon this as well. In fact, I was operating my card at a relatively high OC (925 to 950 MHz core) and I would get NANs at 950 MHz about 1/10 when my PC was unattended and not get them at 925 MHz.

However, when browsing this website I would get NANs at 925 MHz when certain images or scripts loaded. I suspected that it was a javascript or flash, but wasn't positive. I don't get NANs at 904.5 MHz core now, even when browsing this website.

The latest NVIDIA beta drivers (295.51) were causing me errors after I finished a WU, where the client would attempt to download a new core version repeatedly and eventually give up and pause for a day, as it failed to retrieve the proper core. It was not leaving WU's unfinished, nor was it causing NANs, but it was conflicting with folding @ home core A15.

The 290.53 and 290.36 beta drivers did not cause any problems for me and, of course, the WHQL released drivers were all fine.

(All drivers misbehaved with flash / javascripts though.)

Make sure hardware acceleration is disabled in Firefox, Flash, and Silverlight if you use that as well.
