Did I Make the Right Decision - Page 2

It's a tough one. T2i's sensor is much more advanced than the 40D, but the 40D is a workhorse, has a much more rigid contruction (magnesium-alloy, if I remember right). I personally have a 30D and having used it for years and now I can't bring myself to own a Rebel. They just feel so... plastic-y, for a lack of a better word, to me.

If you're going to be doing videos and all of that jazz, T2i. If still images are your focus, I'd stay with the 40D. They had a great sensor and at 10.1 MP it's still quite respectable even today.

40D, no contest. After enjoying the jog wheel and joystick layout, top LCD, ergonomics and excellent build quality of the 40D (and up), I would never go back to a Rebel. Image quality wise, you be hard pressed to notice a difference between the T2i and 40D. The 40D probably has marginally more high ISO noise, but it's still a good performer. I shot ISO 1600 and 3200 a lot when I had the 40D and got very useable results.

The only thing I hate about the 40D in comparison to newer DSLR's in the rear LCD. It's very low resolution and makes it hard to judge sharpness, focus, shake, and so on (I'm a big chimper).

Well I got my 40D today, and so far I love it. the 50mm f1.8 is a very fun lens to play around with. I love the ergonomics and feel of the 40D, especially compared to my old Rebel XT. I dont have a CF card yet (stupid me) but i have been messing around with it, and the joystick, and jog wheel it very convenient.

I think I made a good decision.

Yup. Glad you like it.

You can shoot tethered to the computer or laptop if you have no CF card.
