Sims 3 on my Origin Account?

Thread Starter
I logged into the Origin client Friday (restarted my computer) so I could play some Battlefield 3, and found that I randomly had received Sims 3 on my account. I checked my e-mails and have no purchase confirmations, my bank account and credit card are clear (no Origin purchase), and I was just curious if this was some random promotion that I wasn't aware of or if this is purely a mistake. Anyone know what's up?

I don't really want/need the game if it's not rightfully mine, as my girlfriend has Sims 3 anyways (not that I'd play it, too many other games on my computer).

Please, no discussions about karma and all that, I'm not asking should I keep it or not, I'm just simply asking if there's a reason this game showed up or if it's a mistake.

This just happened to me too. I was scared for a second as I just bought SWTOR and thought there was a mix up. purchase date shows at January 25th of this year.

That is really odd. Has to be a mistake. EA doesn't just give away free games.

Promotions towards games they publish? I wouldn't be surprised if EA actually did give-away a game they published to gain more attraction, but not announcing anything is what puzzles me.

haha I just made an exact thread a few days ago, after reading part of your post I thought youd stolen my thread haha!

But yes, I also have the issue, I did get it on steam , just wondered if they were linked some how, origin man, *** giving free stuff? I know free stuff is nice, but if you got £100,000 your bank it would make you feel a bit confused.

This could be it, when I purchased Alice madness returns on steam when it was on sale I noticed it was on my origin account also

I figured it out, I think. For me anyways.

Reading GeorgevonFrank's post made me think and then I realized what happened. When I purchased Sims 3 for my girlfriend back when it first came out, you have to tie it to an EA account (because of patches and half the game is only available after downloading from the Sims 3 store for free). Well, apparently I tied it to my own EA account (my girlfriend didn't have one) and I guess Origin finally caught up with it and combined them.
