windows mouse settings and the truth...l 5/11 vs 4/11 etc - Page 2

If you don't use mouse drive mouse drivers then I recommend taking a look at MarkC's 1:1 acceleration fix. What it does is that it gives you a true 1:1 ratio regardless of whether the slider is in Windows. On my setup I'm at 1800dpi, 2.5/11 in windows and I adjust my sensitivity in game accordingly. Works very well.

I use this one specifically:

But I don't use the middle 6/11 pointer speed setting?

If you want exact 1-to-1 in-game response when the pointer speed slider is not in the 6/11 position, or you have a custom display DPI, see the MarkC Mouse Fix Builder, which works for Windows 7, Vista and XP.
For those older games that turn acceleration on, it gives the same response as position 6/11 does (1-to-1), without having to move the pointer speed slider to 6/11.
The MarkC Windows 7 + Vista + XP Mouse Acceleration Fix Builder

i didnt specify my exact reasons but in sc2 the sens slider is just like windows. 51 percent is 6/11 and so even if i have a markc fix wont 1:1 just put me back at 1800 dpi? and if thats the case why did i both putting the markc fix on to begin with

does the markc fix still make a 1:1 ratio in windows no matter what the slider setting AND fixes the speed? i was 100 percent sure markc just fixes acceleration which isnt exactly what i asked but i could be wrong and if i AM wrong then this has 100 percent to do with my question and then fixes it in the greatest way possible

Yes, it completely removes acceleration while maintaining a 1:1 mouse ratio regardless of where the slider is positioned in Windows.

He's got two different versions of the config - a 6/11 no accel config and a custom Windows slider builder config. The 6/11 config is mainly geared for users who play at a very low DPI (eg 450-800dpi). This particular version completely removes acceleration while retaining the 6/11 slider in Windows. For users like myself who are accustomed to using a higher DPI (1800+ dpi), the custom slider builder is the way to go. With this particular config, you are given freedom of choice to choose where yous slider is positioned in Windows. For me, 2.5 (not available without his config) is perfect since I play at 1080p and a super low sensitivity in all of my games. Like the 6/11 config, acceleration is completely removed in Windows and in game.

With regard to your SC2 question, I'm not too relatively sure as to how the in game sensitivity is handled but I can imagine that the game will give you a perfectly 1:1 ratio and all you have to do is adjust your in game sensitivity accordingly.

Other thoughts: MarkC's mouse fix is relatively similar to Logitech's setpoint drivers. You can raise or drop your Windows slider and the driver will automatically maintain a 1:1 mouse ratio. Also if you are playing a relatively high DPI, it makes no sense as to stick with the default 6/11 windows slider. I imagine it would be super fast lol.

Hope this helps.

I don't understand how MarkC fix would help here. One way or another some counts from a mouse have to be discarded so it wouldn't be 1:1 ratio anymore.

He's currently playing at 1800dpi with the Windows slider at 6/11. The way I perceived the OP is that at this setting, the mouse speed is just too fast. If he were to drop the slider to say 5/11 in Windows, it would not be be 1:1 anymore. With MarkC's mouse fix, it will allow you to drop the slider to anywhere you want, while maintaining a perfect 1:1 mouse ratio.

but then the mouse isnt slower... im 90 percent sure this i suppose i can test it

and im not at 6/11 im at 5/11 hence the topic :/

my claim as i see it now at least is that to have a 1:1 ratio you cant make a 1800 dpi mouse perform at the speed of 1350 which is what 5/11 windows does. by using the markc fix doesnt it JUST stop mouse accel from happening and have 0 to do with mouse speeD?

Try dropping it down to 4/11 or even 3/11 (with the mouse fix of course). I'm sure you'll like it. thumb.gif

k i dont wana be a dick and im going to phrase this very carefully i hope...

im shooting for around 1400 dpi. the mouse i have the spawn has a 1800 step that i use on 5/11 which is 1350 dpi. i cant drop down any further lol. any further is less then 1350. also you TOTALLY mind %@#%#)d me because i thought that i totally misunderstood how the mousefix worked. it doesnt do as you claim which allows a 1:1 ratio AND lower speed. it simply removes acceleration in games that turn it on. i just checked myself with mouse recorder and yes the speed is slower but it is still skipping pixals every 4th pixal or 3rd however it works.

again no disrespect its just the topic took a total 180 from what i asked to this...

Did you un-check "enhanced pointer precison" before applying the mouse fix?

That's quite strange as I do not get pixel skipping at 2.5/11 or even 3/11.
