but to what. 1400 dpi is about perfect

my mouse settings as spawn allows are 800 1800 and 3500

so windows can go to 4/11 and now thats 900 dpi? thats kinda dumb i can do 3500 and that brings me to1750 but then why didnt i just use 6/11 and 1800

and 800 brings me to 400...

soooooooo.......?


the reason a 1:1 ratio from dpi to monitor for me is simple. when holding a mouse i pivot my hand as it stays still on my pad and it must hit the edges of the screen for me to play sc2. for this to happen it just needs to be 1:1 and i have a 1440 x 900 monitor but again its not even about any of this i should just stop responding but really im sounding like a "mean person" for saying "read topic" yet i personally dont feel like its a mean thing to say

At 5/11 he isn't skipping pixels. There isn't better option than this unless you have actually ~1400 CPI setting. I think MarkC fix or game speed setting (SC2) will do the same as Windows.

The fix builder can be tricky to understand.

If you build a fix using the fix builder, and you set 2.5/11, AND YOU MAKE SURE that "Enhance pointer precision" is ON (yes ON) IN-GAME, or allow your game to turn EPP ON in-game, then you will have exact 1-to-1 in-game.
BUT only when EPP has been turned ON.

If your game does NOT turn EPP on (or you don't turn it on), then you won't have exact 1-to-1.

Making a fix builder curve for 2.5/11 (or any pointer speed slider settings) adjusts the slope of the accel curve to have NO accel (obviously) and to ALSO counteract or undo the effect of 2.5/11 bringing you back to 6/11 (when EPP is ON).

eosgreen, as you suspected, you can't have reduced sensitivity and exact 1-to-1 at the same time.
If the game does not set EPP ON, then you are still at 2.5/11 (or whatever) and not getting 1-to-1.
If the game DOES set EPP ON, then you are now (in effect) at 6/11, and have a (greatly) increased sensitivity (compared to 2.5/11).

For example, CS 1.6, you would make sure that you did NOT use the -noforcemparms or -noforcemspd launch option, so that CS 1.6 would turn EPP on and trigger the fix builder fix, which undoes the 2.5/11 and gives to 1-to-1 6/11.
In CS:S, you would use the new Raw Input and not need a fix anyway.
In other games, I'm not sure what option to get the game to set EPP ON.

Beware of negative acceleration.
A high DPI mouse and 6/11 makes negative acceleration more likely.
It is far better to give away exact 1-to-1 (the loss is only small) than to experience negative acceleration.

The Control Panel pointer speed slider only has 11 positions, but there are 20 possible values internally to Windows, and you can use the fix builder (as a side effect almost) to set one of the 0.5 values.

When "Enhance pointer precision" is OFF, the pointer speed slider values have these sensitivities:
1= 0.03125
2= 0.0625
2.5= 0.125
3= 0.25
3.5= 0.375
4= 0.5
4.5= 0.625
5= 0.75
5.5= 0.875
6= 1
6.5= 1.25
7= 1.5
7.5= 1.75
8= 2
8.5= 2.25
9= 2.5
9.5= 2.75
10= 3
10.5= 3.25
11= 3.5

When "Enhance pointer precision" is ON, the sensitivity also depends on the curve, but assuming that you had an exact 1-to-1 curve loaded for 6/11 (one of the standard MarkC curves, or an appropriate Cheese Fix for XP+Vista), then the pointer speed slider values have these sensitivities:
1= 0.1
2= 0.2
2.5= 0.3
3= 0.4
3.5= 0.5
4= 0.6
4.5= 0.7
5= 0.8
5.5= 0.9
6= 1
6.5= 1.1
7= 1.2
7.5= 1.3
8= 1.4
8.5= 1.5
9= 1.6
9.5= 1.7
10= 1.8
10.5= 1.9
11= 2

@eosgreen: SC2 doesn't set EPP ON when run, so I don't think my fix builder will do anything for you.

As Glymbol says, 5/11 does not pixel skip, but the pointer movement drop is not quite regular.
I doubt anybody would notice anyway, so I'd say keep 5/11.

An example : If the mouse moves 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1, the pointer moves 1,1,1,0,1,1,1,0,1,1,1,0 : every 4th pointer movement dropped.
1 single pixel every 0.032 seconds... (@125Hz mouse). I doubt anybody could sense that jiggle.

IF SC2 has a proper mouse sensitivity adjustment, with a continuous (fractional) setting AND can be configured to turn EPP ON when it runs, then and only then might a 5/11 Fix Builder fix be any good for you.

As I understand it (I could be wrong), the SC2 sensitivity merely controls the Windows Control Panel pointer speed slider, rather than having its own control, and I doubt it can turn EPP ON.
