You can buy a special adapter ro plug the cathode lights into the wall directly:

Your a genius, I have one of these laying around. Grrr, should have thought of this before I cut the hole and all, Cathode is 12.25 and the hole is an inch smaller. Maybe I can route it out and it will work. Good find! Hmmm, now what other gadgets do I have laying around that this thing can power and put in my desk. ( evil grin ) I want to find a use for old DVD drives. I mean hell, you hit a button and something pops out, there has got to be a use for that!! Will I ever finish this desk?

The other thing I'm working on right now is an Audio Control outlet. I want to plug in orange and red lights behind and in the pockets of this desk build, that are controlled by the sounds of my computer. Not just for music like I have some. But with the red and orange blinking at differnt pitches of sound, so when I'm playing Battlefield 3 and explosions are going off, so is my desk lights!!

Also thought of hooking up vibrating motors to the back of the keyboard drawer. Consoles have vibrating controllers, why not have a vibrating keyboard and mouse?

Am I nuts or what?

May work on putting all the blue LEDs in tomorrow. With this thing being in 3 pieces, I will have to have plugs where the wires go from one part to the other and make them a little extra long so if I get a bigger monitor later, I can pull the units apart.

The mouse with motors will not work in it. If you have a high sensitivity mouse it becomes impossible to control. I get the vibration through my desk with my bass and that's not even at quarter volume. Wait till there's motors in there it wouldn't work at all. Just a hint smile.gif

Shaking keyboard would be hooked up to vibrating motors, that are hooked to a sound controlled outlet. They would respond to direct plug in to sound system. Looking at this on Instructables.com . I would be hooking them to the entire keyboard drawer.

This is my old desk top. Notice LEDs everywhere? Running them off an old computer power supply. I had an acrylic rod I cut up like carrots and made drawer knobs. I ran LEDs to the drawer ball bearing type track and then powered the back of each drawer slide positive and negative. Had a White LED in the drawer to find stuff in the dark. Think of it like a toy train track that is powered?

I had UV cold cathodes behind CD rack and was going to buy neon jewel cases, but never did.

My kids were pulling the strings. I had a U nail in the rafters of the garage to pull the center one up. The other two had two strings each. One wrapped around the lazy susan and the other to the door. My daughters had each side cabinet with two strings and my son pulled the center. Good thing I have three kids! LOL

Here it is all put together and the LEDs turned on. Center curve has name engraved in it, but couldn't get cold cathode to work with power supply I have, still working on that. Now to fill the desk with all my crap and of course put the 3 monitors on the doors. Wires wires wires..........

Nicely done! You are going to mount the mintors directly onto the door panels? Assuming the dimensions match, your desk is rerally going to look like a cockpit! smile.gif
