Solution; Get typical cylinder reservoir, relocated the pump inside the case somewhere(with foam cushions) as far away from your ears. enjoy the silence! biggrin.gif

Hmmm, I found mine to be very quiet, was very happy with it.

While I'm here, I'm assuming I can cool the cpu, gpu, mb and ram with an RS240 and a RX240? Don't think the mb will put out a heap of heat, I'm more worried about the RAM, it always seems much hotter to the touch (on the heatsinks) than the mb heatsinks but that is just by touching it with my hand.
I want the computer to be quiet so I was going to get 2 noctua nf-p12s in pull (full speed) on both rads and add shrouds to the front radiator. I would do the same on the other one but there wouldn't be anywhere near enough room between the top of the case and the motherboard, I'm going to mount the RS240 internally (will just fit from what I can tell), and then I'll have the fans on top of the case, drawing air out of the case like I have in my current setup, and so I don't want these big towering fans on top of my case hence the reason I'm not going to add shrouds to it.

EDIT: I'm not looking for record breaking temperatures here, as long as they're under 70c i'll be happy (would rather they didn't exceed 60c, of course the lower the better)

I'm assuming the RX240 will have better cooling capabilities to the phobya 200 xtreme? Getting off topic here, sorry

Don't get the NF-P12's, they don't do well on radiators at all. I don't know why, but they make a lot of noise and push very little air compared to most other fans. Don't get my wrong, they are great case fans and do well on air coolers, just not on WC rads. The best noise / performance fan you can get at the moment is the Gentle Typhoon; they cost about the same as the NF-P12s but blow other fans away on noise levels. Get some GT-1850s if you have a fan controller (actually you can run two off a mobo header easily) or some 1450s if you want to run at full speed.

Here are the results of one of Martin's epic fan tests to back this info up:

interesting, I knew they didn't push much air but I thought they were the quietest available, they served me quite well on the rs240 but I'll buy a couple gentle typhoons (1850rpm) and slow them down till I find a good speed between noise and cooling.
Do you think the EK DCP 4.0 pump would be able to handle all those blocks?

Oh wow I'm stupid, I didn't enable editing in excel tongue.gif

EDIT: I got 1.55gpm but that doesn't include any RAM blocks. And this is with the D5 on setting 5. On setting 2 it came up with 0.80gpm. So I'm assuming the d5 will be plenty on a setting 4 or 5 with all the blocks

Ok either I have extremely sensitive ears or the pump is bad. This is how far I went to try to get it to be quiet (quiet, not silent) with no dice. I can still hear it when I'm standing outside my room.

450

450

I'm really hoping I have a bad pump and they're not all this noisy. It's at least 10 times louder than my psu at the moment, and I had the side panel on the case too.

I used the 650D case that I'm selling (along with the mb, 200mm rad and a few other parts) to test it out.

I'm just going to buy the d5 and hopefully it won't be as loud, I'll be able to run it on lower settings at first until I add the mb and ram to the loop.
