yeah... I always screw myself. I always buy the board that is supposed to be the best and it turns out that its the worst. last time I had a crap board was an MSI when supposedly MSI was awesome.. Board just plain was horrible. IT didn't OC for anything. I accidentally burned it out one night while re seating the ram (power supply not switched off) and it suddenly self booted, ram was not seated yet, and miss aligned.... smelled smoke... board dead.
Bought new Gigabyte board (was always told to stay away from gigabyte, but I got a great deal ) and the board Oced amazingly. IT ran like a champ. everything was perfect., I loved that RIG. Makes me ask myself.. Why did I not go with gigabyte this time around doh.gif Im an idiot....

CPU's are very robust, I'd be guessing it's the board that's gone.

Asus boards (even the budget ones) are pretty good when it comes to handling the Thubans, although you may have just gotten a bad board. I hope the replacement does much better.

first sorry hopefully everything gets resolved.

second I am an ASUS fan, but my build is with the MSI 990fx-GD80 and I love how everyone hates on it. For some reason mine messed up about 1 month after I bought it when I installed my WC loop. So I called MSI got a hold of a real person on the first call, did an RMA, mailed it to them, and about 1-2 weeks later I had a completely new board in a new box with all the accessories.

Good Customer Service FTW

sorry to hear ASUS did that to you.

Asus' customer service does seem to be pretty horrid going by all the stuff Ive read on all the forums. I do know that theyve got a rep that posts regularly on the HardOCP forums and if somebody makes a thread griping about a problem with something of theirs, he usually chimes in and helps get it right. This is the only place Ive seen this though.

I still think Asus makes the best motherboards, especially in their higher end. Apparently there is an issue with the Crosshair V cause Ive read more than a few threads on them crapping out on folks but as a whole I think their boards are the best judging by all the reviews and torture tests Ive seen. Asus always seems to come out on top. My Sabertooth has been rock solid so far for the few weeks Ive been running it. Hopefully it stays that way.
