Noob Water Cooling advice ?

Thread Starter
Hey all im thinking of going to water cooling because i live in a small flat with little ventilation

And im tired of cleaning the dust out of my pc so..

Ive been looking at the EK Water Blocks EK-KIT H3O Supreme LT 360 EN Kit and ive seen some good reviews on it

But would a 360 rad be ok for my Fx 8120 and a GTX 560 and maybe a chip-set cooler ??

Im new to water-cooling so im unsure

any advice would be good thanks

Yea you should be fine with that. Doubt you'll need t he chip-set cooler though. The only thing that should be pointed out is you're not going to solve your dust issue even if you mount the rad outside of your case, as you still need good air flow into the case for cooling mosfets and the like.

If i was to buy a Mosfet block could i run it fan-less then ???

a 240 would likely be to small for what you want to cool. You could water cool the whole board but there's just no way around the heat issue. There needs to be air current moving though the tower to keep the system running. But that's neither here nor there as you still have the PSU fan to contend with. Just get a cold air hair dryer and once every other month (perhaps longer depending on how fast the dust builds up) blow the dust out of the tower shouldn't take more then 5 minutes for basic maintenance (more if you're a perfectionist like me).

Now don't get me wrong the amount of dust build up will go down with the more cooling you can relocated to the outside of the case. But you will still need at least a 120 intake and exhaust to ensure proper ventilation of the internal case.

I'd stick with a 360mm rad and skip the chipset cooler. Also, don't think you can get out of cleaning the dust off your pc, and come to think of it now you're gonna have to clean the dust off your rad. wink.gif

I would suggest more than a 360 for CPU and GPU. Not mandatory, but recommended. I have a 240 for my CPU and another 240 for my GPU and I still don't see the best temps I could get.

Will you be mounting the rad inside or outside the case? I would make sure to get a thicker 360 rad just in case you want to cool two cards instead of one.
