The guy is full of BS, unless he has a 840EE, 955EE, 965EE or a kentfeild quad core(which BTW none are 4.0 stock). Either way he doesnt have 4 physical 4.06 chips, he is likely to have 2 3.06 Xeons or a Pentium D Extreme Edition chip or maybe (BIG MAYBE) a quad kentfield very doughtfull though. And to make something clear there was never a Intel chip clocked faster then 3.8ghz on the market, intel was going to make a 4.0ghz chip int he 6XX series but canned that as they began to work on the dual cores. Ive got a friend that is the same way, always talks up his stuff like its the cats meow, yet the numbers just dont match.

damn it man.. how do i edit the title for this thread.. i ment to put Fastest Stock Intel Processor
Hi Trippen,

From Tom's Hardware -
"For now, however, the 4 GHz barrier seems to remain an insurmountable obstacle - at least while trying to retain justifiable heat dissipation levels. After all, a thermal dissipation loss of 130 W requires an expensive and extravagant cooling system that isn't easily realized in the mass market. As a result, the Pentium 4 670 remains the processor with the highest frequency on the Intel side. The problem is not as pronounced (yet?) with AMD CPUs, since their clock speeds - and consequently thermal dissipation loss - are quite a bit lower."

The P4 670 is rated stock at 3,800Mhz or 3.8GHz... There have been attempts to go beyond 4.0Ghz on air cooling and some have made it. 5.25Ghz was reached at Tom's Hardware and according to them the world record is around 7.0Ghz. You can check out the article here:

I hope this helped, :-)

okay so today the guy brings in a paper that he printed out.. its of a cheap mother board that has 4 cpu slots and like 2 ram slots for each cpu slot. and a picture of a processor thats upside down.. it wasnt a 478 .. it was a 775 .. saying it was a prescott pentium 5 .. yes thats right he claims its a pentium 5 prescott new technology and he typed up a little bit of stuff at the top of the page.. it says.. 4.06 running at 3.8 p5 prescott with windows xp home edition ... now the funny thing i noticed right off the bat was the chip he pictured was an lga775 .. but the motherboard he pictured had a pin socket .. i thought all of this was really funny i started laughing at him and he swears that its really a p5 i tried to explain to him.. that it went p p2 p3 p4 pd c2d .. but he wasnt hearing any of it and he was real insistant that xp home saw and utilized all 4 of his physical cores he also went on to say that.. even tho its 3.8 its really a 4.06 and that becuase its a p5 prescott that they get to hot to run at their full speed thats why its a 3.8 and if he put liquid cooling on it that it would magicly run at 4.06 with out changing any settings..

I have a kid at school like this, says his dad 'invented' the druid in d and d , and also his mom's teacher was in on the Manhatton Project. Just embarass him in front of everyone. That'll shut him up

right.. i cant beleive he actually printed up a server board and a cpu on a peice of paper and typed up a little thing about it.. it was so funny this guy is pretty much out there.. he also claims that he has 4 computers hooked up .. i guess the best way to describe it.. is like a series of batterys.. and that he used 3 of them to filter out all the viruses and ad ware and stuff like that.. befor it all gets to his server and that he is immune to everything out there becuase he is running ad-aware avg and nortons all at the same time on each one of the computers.. i almost peed on my self laughing so hard ...
