Looking for new video card

Thread Starter
Looking to get a new single video card off of amazon for around the 200 dollar mark, it can be a little bit above or below that price, just looking for the best bang for my buck. Any suggestions?

I would go for the 6870 (try to get the 2gb) or if you can go up to 6950 that would be better. Nvidia drivers right now are total Crap. So I would go AMD.

6950 2Gb is still the best price/performance card. Other than that you could look for a GTX 560, HD6850 or HD6870 smile.gif

For the $200 price range the two options are 6870 and 560. Both compare very close on perfomance. Trade blows back and forth in games. Where one wins the other isn't far behind either. The 6870 very slightly edges out in perfomance over the 560.

As for bad driver issues that blanket statement above is false. It's something that varies because not all people experience the same problems even with the same GPU's. I've not had any driver issues since install I've not had a single problem in 13 months. Dosent mean others with 580's didn't.

Also let's not kid each other but BOTH sides have thier fair share of driver problems. Neither side is immune.

So either choice 6870 or 560 1GB is within your budget. Good luck, post back with an update once you pull the trigger and let us know which way you went. smile.gif

I was able to nab my MSI 560ti Twin Frozr II for $200, on sale, and after a MIR. If you wait around for some deals to spring up on Newegg, you might get lucky

The 560ti and 6950 trade blows, I just chose the 560ti because of the substantially better cooling. Also, CUDA and PhysX are quite handy for me

From that I wouldn't pay >$150 for a 6870. I'd grab either a 6950

http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?forumchoice[]=9&q=6950&showposts=0&archive=0&firstonly=1

or a 560 Ti

http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?forumchoice[]=9&q=560+ti&showposts=0&archive=0&firstonly=1

Actually there's a Sparkle 560 Ti for $170 AR (after rebate) I don't think it's the 448-core though.

In any case, go on slickdeals, and create deal alerts that'll let you know when there's a deal
