ok well i havent really been keeping track of amd vs intel, ati vs nvidia so i have no idea what kind of system to build i was thinking something along the lines of this

CPU:
Athlon64 3200 amd2 link

Motherboard:
Asus M2N-MX link

RAM:
Kingmax DDR2 1Gb link

vid card:
Gecube ATI Radeon X1600(PRO) 256Mb link

and just a random 50buck case and i already have the drives tell me what you guys think oh and im in australia newegg wont ship here

Nice little budget rig.

Get an ATX motherboard instead of mATX. mATX is often very limited in overclocking.

NewEgg should send to Australia and Canada, but dont.
The Egg does have a flaw.
I'd drop the 3200 in fAVOR of the 3700 Sandy (price permitting).

However!!! you can get 3700+ in754, but im betting he wants some AM2 action.

if you can, spend the money for a cheap dual core opty and OC that sucker.

We're indeed looking at AM2 here. I expect to see average overclocks with that rig It is low-budget, and the motherboard will have some limitations.
It's a nice balance for the price though.
