question about audio output

I have a pc that has 5 channel audio off the motherboard and I have it hooked up to my tv via HDMI. My video card doesnt support audio off the card. I want to hook up my PC to my bose system that uses RCA audio jacks to get my audio. I already purchased a converter from 3.5mm jack to RCA left right cables, but when I hook it up there is a buzzing noise off the speakers and the audio sucks. Does anyone know a good way to get audio to the bose system from the PC.

My mainboard is a ECS 945GCT-m the only thing i upgraded was my video card but its not top of the line either.

Thank You
Don

Have you tested the cable with another device (iPod, etc.) to make sure the cable isn't the culprit? Also, have you used your motherboard's sound with different speakers or headphones without any buzzing?
