HDMI Not Detected on ASUS VH242H w/ GTX 580

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Quick scenario:
Last weekend I unplugged my mouse from my computer to use it with my laptop. (Note: I did this after I turned the computer off). When I plugged it back in (while my computer was still off) and turned my computer on my display kept giving me a HDMI not detected error. This makes absolutely no sense because what does plugging/unplugging a USB into a computer have to do with the display? The only way I fix it is by waiting and jiggling the power cable to the monitor and jiggling the mini HDMI to my GTX 580 and HDMI to my monitor. But those methods hardly work. Also, the same thing happened to my display when I plugged my ethernet cable into my computer while it was on.

I'm confused! Is my cable at fault?

Try to take off power cables from your video card and mainboard, plow them and put them back in.
It sounds weird but it has worked on me couple times when my friends PC didn't connect to monitor

might not apply to you but i've seen someone here turn their laptop just by plugging in HDMI.
