I know nothing about water cooling what would you guys suggest for a Asus P5B Deluxe WiFi mobo, with a Conroe E6400 CPU, GSkill 2GB PC6400, in an Aspire X-Cruiser Case, XFX 7900GS Extreme.

1. I keep my room temp in the house between 70 F and 73 F this converts to 21 C and 23 C. Is this what you are talking about when you say ambient temp?
2. If the above answer is yes then the coolest temps I can get my cpu to run would be between 21 C and 23 C correct?

What is the most accurate way to find out the CPU and VGA temps and can you mount in a bay with a digital read out?

If your air or water cooling then yes thats as low as you can go. If you chill the water or use phase change or something of that nature you can go lower than 21-23C.

A standard watercool setup can only go as low as the ambient because its using ambient air to cool the radiator. You cant really hope for anything better..

What determines a good water cool setup is how close it keeps your cpu to your ambient temperature..

Allot of people seem to use software utilities like "SpeedFan" or "SensorViewPro" or "motherboardMonitor" to read there cpu temps trough the system. To read your video card temps people generally use "ATiTool" and RivaTuner" or the utility that comes with all Nvidia drivers. This method is easy and free but this method uses the sensors on the hardware it self to read the temps. The sensors that come with your hardware are not really ment to give you a accurate reading because they are there as a fail safe system that tells the hardware to shutoff when the temps are super high.

The most accurate way is to actually buy probes that sit on the hardware and use a digital read out that you can mount in or on your case. So yes there are plenty of fan speed and temperature monitoring devices that are ment to mount in you bays. If you go this route beware of what you buy and don't get a junky one and trust it or you may fry a component..

hope this helps a little

I would like to water cool the C2D system I am working on and have been thinking about using a radiator from a salvage yard. Say a transmission oil cooler or the small AC cooler that mounts in front of most car radiators. Any suggestions? I will have two computers (the C2D system I am working on and the 478 prescott system I already have) and would like to rig up a cooler system that could handle both cpu's and the vga card on the 478 system. I have also entered the case mod contest and I am thinking about cooling just the 478 system for now (cpu and vga) and since I am going with a car theme on the case I thougt a small car type radiator would go along with the theme. I have been to the dangerden and like several items there haven't had a chance to check all the sites you guyz have listed but have checked out 4 or 5. I like the 12v pump at danger den I didn't notice one on the other sites. Another think I am keeping in mind is I would like to reach at least ambient temps with what ever water cooling system I wind up using.

Heatercores are the way to go. $20-30 for GREAT cooling

The heater Core will be in by mid to end week. (free from a friend in the Core business). I would like to know a few things though.

1. What is the best yet cheapest clear tubing I can use with the heater core.
2 I also have a small Radiator (I think it is around 6 inches square give or take an inch) and I believe it is a two core it is about 2 inches or more thick. Can I use both the small radiator and the heater core in the loop and will this be benificial in the cooling process?
3. What are you guys thoughts on cooling two cpu's and one vga card with the same water system?
4. Could you recomend a good pump? or suggestions at least.
5. Do 12v pumps put out much heat? And how much noise to they make?

Can I use antifreeze in the cooling unit or is water with some type of additive better. I would like to build a very very low maintenance cooling system.

Sorry I know so little and thanks very much for all your feedback and advice.

Yeah your probably going to need both to cool all that. If you OC the cpus and the card its gona be a close call. You may get away with just the heater core if you don't OC the cpu's or the card. But as far as pumps I'm not sure if your going to need anything much more powerfull than a d5 pump. I personaly own one and I can't hear it, and my liquid moves lightning fast. You could use a water/antifreeze mixture but if it leaks on your system it will fry. I use Fluid PX+ from frozen cpu. you can hose you system with it and it will still run.
