Do not EVER EVER EVER buy an XFX product. EVER. - Page 4

This is a tough one.

Their product failed, but you got 10 months out of it, and are overclocking...

Personally, Ive never understood refusing to pay return shipping on principal.

I mean, yeah, I get it, but I don't understand how one can refuse to do it.
That just ends up hurting you in the end.
Especially if downtime means lost money(as you implied).
Sounds like you are shooting yourself in the foot for the sake of some arbitrary distinction.

If paying the $10 for return shipping to get a new one($80 value iirc) is too steep, its going to be a while(and a lot of lost money).
XFX is notorious for being one of the most stubborn RMA processes in the industry.
On the other hand, its XFX, so you will probably get a refurbished unit back either way.

At work the CSRs will send out a mailing label if something is DOA or if a customer is REALLY upset.
But if they've been using a product for almost a year and it breaks and they demand return shipping they are pretty much SOL.

My time as a CSR taught me a few things.
Namely that the more demanding and entitled you are with customer service, the less likely they are to be helpful.

Uh yeah...none of us like paying shipping. Quit with the attitude and don't expect things that are CLEARLY in the policy as something you are not going to get. You were the first one to be rude and cop an attitude, not XFX. Maybe if you stayed polite it would have gone better. But the fact is that its pretty standard for you to pay the shipping to them. And they have no reason to go out of their way to help you when you are being a deuce.

Your first mistake was keeping that PSU that was obviously not new. You goofed keeping that PSU. RMA it then sell it, learn from what happened and be done with it, and don't be so rude to the CSR's. The don't design the policy and they didn't make your PSU.

And in my 10 months as a TSR/CSR the ruder you got, the less we cared. Wasn't worth the close to minimum wage. Why should we lose our jobs to give out something that we weren't supposed to to someone who was screaming at us. Nope, doesn't work that way. I only tried to go out of my way for the nice and polite ones.

You shouldn't be such a mad douche to the support representative. He's not all empowering, its just his job to deal with people like you. Every single day, and its sure as hell not his fault for your power supply.
You knew it was most likely faulty and had the chance to return it for free but you refused to and when it died you acted like a baby because the company was following it's normal RMA procedure and didn't bend to your will.

"but that is not how I do things". lachen.gif I'm gonna have to remember that the next time I get pulled over.

Here's the thread: 790i RMA
Reading this and the thread i linked i would think twice before i buy any XFX products. But i know when my brothers XFX 790i died he sent it to the reseller, they didn't even test it, but went on his description of the defect and sent him a new ASUS 1156 motherboard.
EDIT: I have to agree with what others have said, i've never come across a company (not reseller, they always send a shipping label, at least in sweden) that will pay for the shipping to them of the faulty product.

Thanks for the link to that thread. Epic customer support fail.

OH also one more thing guys:

YOU CAN FLAME ME ALL YOU WANT - I have no problems with that. I opened myself up to it the moment I posted, so no hard feelings if you disagree with me. A lot of you guys' posts have been helpful to me so I take the good with the bad. wink.gif

Considering how many people filed complaints with BBB against XFX and their terrible rating, I expect absolutely nothing to come of this for me. I've already accepted I'll have to pay to get it RMA'd. I just don't want anyone else having to deal with this, and if you do, then the internet has yet one more "XFX customer service and products are terrible" thread for you to brace yourself.
