[Build Log] tri sli 580 obsidian 800d LCS build ( for lack of formal name) please leave feedback!!

So guys wasup... if your reading this your either thinking one of two things
1. WTH are the 580's in tri sli
2.I hope this build isn't a waste of my time to read

Well both of those will be adressed in due time.
The main reason i am doing this build log is to spend time not thinking about how bad i want this long awaited computer to be done. Also to get input as to what could be done differently or what i am doing right.

First let me give you the background. Back about 2 years ago maybe 3 i started getting into computer hardware and it all tumbled into atleast 100 hours worth of research and a 6000 price tag on a computer that i thought i wanted (me being the age of 14). Well as time passed i invested in parts to start my computer building journey, overall about 1200 dollars worth. Then as i began to realize there was no way i could get 6000 dollars anytime in the next year it was to late. Soon i sold the motherboard but retained my ssd, PSU, and video card. With the parts out of mind i continued life and merged my parts i kept with my at the time current HP desktop. Months passed ... heck years even and then i began frustrated with the performance i was lacking. Using money i was saving for other things i attained a working computer as cheap as i could go without sacrificing performance... when i say cheap i mean the thing was built on my desk and ran like that for about 3 months. That system was an 17 950 on an ASUS sabertooth mobo with 6gb corsair RAM and the original GTX 470 i had. More time passed and i spent a good deal on car audio while at the same time my good friend showed interest in a computer and purchased a mobo and case with my help from newegg. Trying to get to higher specs i sold off the HP to a good friend which will probably be mentioned many more times in this story and i also acquired his case to finally put my literal DESKtop computer in ... im so funny... Anyway. While i waited for my friend to pay off the HP i slumped into another lazy mood where i was content with my pc. As christmas 2011 passed i somewhat began to breathe life back into my plans as i purchased 2 ocz vertex 2's and a seagate 1tb drive and installed those into the rig. A few weeks passed and i was aproached by a guy that i had somewhat been friends with and he wanted me to build him a computer. After pricing and confirming the list with him i began to wonder .. and checking benchmarks i realized that the 2600k for the same price wiped the floor with my 950. Later that day for a great deal i was able to convince this guy to buy what was basically my computer at the time.. the only difference being the videocard, ssd's, and PSU. He agreed and after building this rig for him i was without a computer for about a week before i started to scheme. With almost 1200 in the bank i began checking prices vs benchmarks and finally settled on ordering a corsair obsidian 800d, 2 gtx 460's, an EVGA ftw p67 mobo, and a 2600k CPU.
And thats where the story ends ... i hope you enjoy me putting it together with very poor quality pictures biggrin.gif
JK
Me and forementioned friend then put all of this together and benched it... but something wasn't right.. i wasn't getting the performance i wanted nor the look i wanted.
so in frustration i began to scheme again and offered my friend another chance to build a pc, he was interested for a little while but would take a while to pay off .. the components of mine he would get are the 2 460's and the RAM. Since this would put me out of a computer for a little bit I went to my grandmother and asked for a loan.. she was very helpful and offered me a 300 dollar 1 month loan. Now i wanted to get to tri sli and my gtx 470 could do it... so i scowered ebay for used cards since news once are either extremely expensive or out of stock ... after finding a great deal i once again started to scheme but this time i saw alot more money than i thought i had. About this time my friend decided against building a computer so there was no way for me to off my 460's anymore... oh well ... but after checking neweg return policy was able to return the cards for a full refund and they payed the shipping. With money in bank and loan in pocket i clicked to the page to buy the 470's to make my total 3 of them .. just then i saw a newegg ad that was the GTX580. After doing further research i had to have this card ... so i sent back my mobo ... wait what ? yep thats right i sent back my mobo to amazon ... which allowed me to upgrade to an ASUS maximus 4 extreme which gave me many more features and continued my red and black theme much better. All this time without a computer almost drove me crazy if it wasn't for my gaming laptop... TeeHee smile.gif . So i ordered one GTX 580...and then i got it and it was good ... then i ordered a second but the SC version this time ... then before that even got here i put my 470 on sale and bought yet another 580. While 2 of them are not here yet my 470 has sold and i have one 580 and my new mobo with a lapped 2600k. For reasons undisclosed i have my parts shipped to my grandmothers house, now what your going to hate me for .... when i went to pick up the first 580 i started telling her about my plans for the build and she told me to not worry about the $300 loan ... BRICK SHAT .... and thats where i am right now. roughly $700 in the bank and looking to spend about $1200 more on the build ... not including screens mouse keyboard and accessories.

I have typed alot today =/. Need to do homework... mind you .. i don't have a job so have no clue where to get $500 more dollars in the next month or so ... but like i said .. hopefully logging the build will slow me down enough where i can handle the wait. Tomorrow i will go through and give you watercooling specs that im looking at and hardware specs currently and what will be added.
