It will be really hard to find a cpu that "cant can" handle bf3. jk tongue.gif

This will give you an idea of what graphics cards to use. You will need to decide how low you are willing to go with your game settings though. Do you mind playing on low graphics settings, or do you want high or even ultra?

If you give a dollar amount and the parts you need, people here will be glad to make lists for you of parts that will fit your budget. It sounds like you want a new CPU, motherboard, ram and GPU (video card). You should know that you might need a new PSU (power supply) for this too. I'm no expert though. Just list how much you're willing to spend, what you have and what you're willing to change and the gurus here will give advice.

Also, where are you located? If you have a Micro Center nearby, they will have great deals.

Does $230 include the graphics card? If not, how much are you thinking about spending on that?

Which core 2 quad because there are a whole bunch of them?

forget s775 its basicly dead i would look at either a phenom 960t or i3 2100 both would out perform the core 2 quad in gaming. pair it with either a good am3 or z68 board with some cheap 1866 memory and your good to go

the i3 2100 wont overclock at all but the z68 leaves room for upgrades but then again so does the amd route

the 4100 wouldnt be bad IF you planned to OC if not the base gaming of the quad core phenom 2 would actually be better

if you can oc the fx 4100 you will be able to beat out the phenom 2
