cheap cpu/ram/motherboard combo - Page 2

I agree with racer86, 775 is dead and the i3 2100 is a good solid cpu.

Check these out:

Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor 129.99 (only $5 more than the 2100)

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 24.99 (this is one stick so if you want to go to 8GB later you can just pick up another stick)

ASRock Z68M/USB3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 84.99 (I'm not too sure about the mobo)

Total: $240

Edit: racer86, I just read your quote about marketing vs. piracy. LOL biggrin.gif

not to say it wouldnt suffice but for the money you can get better performance for 100-110 you can get a nice amd quad core or an i3 2100 with ddr3 1600+ memory a used core 2 quad would run you 65-80 for a low end and the nice ones will actually cost more than the amd chips

if you already have a nice s775 set up the it wouod be feasible but for a new set up i would go for the newer tech i think ull be much happier with ur purchase

the only reason why is because i could afford to buy a 200$+ gpu if i went with the quad...... if not then how about a a fx 4100 and a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127590 would that play skyrim or bf3 at 1680x1050 or even a lower 720p res

just saw u could get the c2q free that makes it a little tougher choice over all tho i stand by what i said you would have to upgrade the whole system later on with s775 instead of just puttin in a better gpu

that way next time u want to upgrade u wont have to replace the whole system

basicly instant gratification with the better gpu or better longevity and long term performance with the better cpu and motherboard

mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157199

cpu:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103885

ram (8gigs)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148476

total is $194.97 save a little extra to put into the graphics card.

pair it with a $150 to $200 graphics card and it sould play skyrim on high pretty easily

I've actually used this combo before and with a 550ti. we build the whole rig with under 500 dollars (even a 1080p screen) minus the hard drives. he plays guild wars and minecraft and it has never given him any trouble

those two boards you listed arnt too bad but with no mofset cooling oveclosking will be very limited the fx chips usually do 4ghz stock volts if you can afford the extra $25 this is a much better board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767R

also if you dont mind buying used ur money will go alot farther in the FS section youll get a much better card

dont get me wrong for 100 the 6770 is a great card although if you can find a 5770 cheaper get jt cuz the 6770 is just a rebranded 5770

for the price he might as well pay an extra $10 for the fx 4100 and get an am3+ board
