Well a little over 18 hours later is has successfully completed an entire cycle of prime blend with the cpu at 263x14 @ 1.45v and the memory at 876MHz CL4-4-4-5-13-2T @ auto volts (I'm assuming 1.8v). All of this was on the Coolmax psu and without the video card in.

Well I am trying to not invest too much into this board as I am hoping/planning to switch to the dark side and get an intel rig when Ivy Bridge drops or shortly after.

Interestingly enough, out of curiosity I hooked up the old psu without the graphics card in and it ran prime blend fine for 3+ hours, so I put the card back in and everything is pretty much hooked up except for my cd drive and 1 hdd and it has been running prime blend just fine for 3.5 hours and about an hour in I turned furmark on and it ran for 80 minutes with my gpu OCed. My temps got warm but nothing out of the norm. Prime blend continues to run and temps are just fine.

My psu got a bit warm with both prime and furmark running and I noticed it's pretty dusty inside of it. Is it possible that my psu just overheated. I have my doubt as I think that would just cause problems inside the psu not on the motherboard...

If this passes a full run of prime blend I may throw it all back together (the psu is not in the case and the case is on its side) and try again and see what happens. Maybe it actually was those heatsinks on the back and clearing all the caps and such allowed that problem to work itself out or something like that. haha.

I want to start with the fact that my spelling is not the best but I belive you will make out my point the basic fact it that when electristy pass over a ciurct it genarats heat and that casuss wear and tear much like your brakes in a car the faster you go the faster the brakes wear. your power suplly may very well work now after cooling down but is is defently on the way out and sooner then later in your case when one is going a clasic sigh is when they do voltage spikes and from all you said I belive that is the case with yours is shows all the signsat this point everthing in that pc is subject at the lest have had some major wear on them from the psu ass every thing is powered from itand right now you maybe saying that your bios is set at certain volt levels but just becase someone in charge tell you to act in a spfic way dosent meen that you will. and more so if your sickand that is what you have on your hands is a sick pc and in this context (sick) is not the good kind of sick this is a clasic exsampal of the risk we all run in the pursuit of a faster pc and over clocking them

Not sure why you are trying to salvage 2 crap PSU's neither one of them are really any good. just purchase yourself a good unit before one of them kills the entire PC

The coolmax works fine but lacks all the hookups I need. It's my antec bp550 that I am trying to salvage.
