[/.]Nokia CEO Blames Salesmen For Windows Phone Struggles - Page 3

I blame the terrible launch commercial. "Look the winphone 7 can do everything your phone can. Buy it." Um, yeah that is not a very good selling point.
Not to be mean here but Nokia can suck it for ditching MeeGo and even more so for being so "just the tip" about supporting it. There was so much potential there that they just let flounder and die.

Windows on a phone just begs the question of why? What is the purpose/benefits? I'm fine with MS trying to be in the market but honestly they need to really sell the benefits and vocalize those more than anything. I for one associate Windows with "bloated, slow, problematic, demanding" and many people do(which Apple has helped spread). They combat that and prove the contrary and then they can succeed with a windows phone.

My overly simplistic view:

I just don't see a niche for Windows Mobile OS, unless maybe they attempt to take the spot previously occupied by Blackberry- a business phone. It would have to offer some feature or level of integration that iOS or Android cant match.

iOS is simple, but costly (regarding apps and music, unless you jailbreak).
Android is complex, but mostly free.

I don't see a lot of desirable middle ground here.

I'm guessing Intel's upcoming atom based phones running Linux will be cutting mostly into Android's market share.

On the topic of blaming sales people. Good sales people see what the customer came into the store to buy and sell it to them. If a customer did not come into the store to buy a W7 phone they will sell them what they did come into the store wanting, otherwise they probably loose the sale and commission.

Oh, it's not PC to blame salesmen, what about the women?

I kind of agree. I've been to a few Verizon stores and Sprint stores, and when I asked where the Windows Phone 7 devices are, they have to go to the back and bring one out. It was worse at the Verizon store when my mom was going to get a new phone. We asked to see if they had any, and not only did the salesman have to bring out from the back, the phone wasn't even activated so we really couldn't even use it to try out. So my mom got an iPhone instead.

Dido.. I have an upgrade on one of my lines and I'm thinking about getting it.. I recently traded an old 3gs for a Samsung focus wp7, and I like it a lot.. They just need more apps/devs. I have compared my iPhone 4S and Samsung Focus's browsing speeds and they are actually very very close..

THIS... accurate.. tongue.gif

That's a shame.. She probably would have bought the windows phone over the iphone. They are very fast

The biggest issue I've found with windows phone other then the lack of applications is what applications there are, the equivalent one on android is free.

I think it was VERY stupid of them to release 9 out of 10 phones on 1 carrier, Once I heard that I bought my Vibrant for T-mobile. I wanted a focus but I didnt want At&t

I do try to sell Windows phone since I do work at one of the carriers, but there really hard to sell since most customers wants the iOS or Android. But they can't always blame the salesperson for not getting the customer to buy it.

Windows Phone 7's integration with Exchange is exceptional, I've found it really nice for work.

Overall, the entire WP7 package is well done and simple. Now only if they marketed it as much as they marketed Windows 7...
