Compatibility question

Hi there!

First post here and a french speaker so sorry in advance!

Here it is:

I have problems with my asus p5n-e sli and I want to replace it. So far so good. I found this Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2P and thought it would be nice to upgrade to ddr3 memory.

The RAM I plan to get is this Kingston 8gig kit: KHX1600C9D3K2/8G

Here is my current rig (pieces that I plan to keep):

Intel Q6600 (I would like to OC it to 3.0-3.2 ghz)
Intel SSD X25-M 80gig
WD 500 gig HD
Zotac GT240 1 GB Zone edition
Antec Basic 550w power supply
Windows 7 x64 ultimate

So, is anyone seeing any conflict with all this? Does the ram is compatible with this G41 chipset? Someone in the Corsair forum said that those chipset only accept 128x8 ddr3 memory modules. Can't find those... probably too old.

Kingston recommend those (above) sticks even if they will run at 1066 (how do I OC them to 1333??).

I've made extensive research but it's very complex and I won't make it before my current mobo draws all the sanity I have left...

So, there's 3 questions:

1. Are those components compatible togheter (mainly the Intel SSD)?
2. Will the mobo support OCing the Q6600 up to 3.0-3.2 ghz (or more... I have a Corsair H70 water cooler)?
3. Will the mobo support OCing the Kingston ram up to 1333?

Thanks a lot!

1 yes all seems fine to me
2 looks like quite a basic board to me, not sure of its overclocking potential
3 Yes should be fine, should also run nice timings as that ram is rated at 1600

Maybe someone else can fill in a bit more about overclocking for you

Thanks for the answer liamstears!

For overclocking, I'm completely confused when I read things talking of front side bus frequency and bios multiplier. The relation between fsb frequency, Vcore and ram speed is still very obscure!

This mobo is rated 1333mhz max for the fsb freq but I assume that like ram it is not the actual frequency ( like a 800 ddr2 run in reality at 400....).

I agree I've not completed my homeworks but a little help would be apreciated!
