Hi i was wondering of the 2 cores which would i be better getting because if i was to get the AMD FX Series 8120 i would have to get the 6870 to be in budget but if i got the AMD Phenom II X4 960T i would be able to get the 560ti or possibly the 1gb 6950 not sure which would be better hopefully someone can help me choose thanks

Go for the 960T, the performance increase won't be that much greater with the 8120.

You'll be able to get a better graphics card as you said if you buy this, and that'll help later on, also the rumoured B3 stepping of Bulldozer has supposedly fixed some of those issues you're better off waiting for that and seeing how it does and getting the 960T for now.

Long story short, get the 960T, the only difference you'll notice is how much better the graphics are since you could afford a better gpu. thumb.gif

any of the chips will work. but if you unlock the 960T, it would really be a bargain.

i think what you should really shoot for is a 2GB GPU - 560TI ot 6950.

Push for 6950 2GB.. It's alot better. Get this alongside the 960T to have an epic system! thumb.gif

The 960t is the choice between the two for gaming. Especially when it's letting you get a better graphics card.

But in all honesty it's the better choice even if you were to have the same graphics card with which ever you chose.

in what way can you unlock the 960t i thought u could only unlock the x2's and x3's not been paying attention to all this stuff in a long while!

getting the 960t is saving me around £50 over the 8120 so i'll go with that and get a better graphics and 1 other question should i stick with the am3+ motherboard i was gona get (Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3) or get a normal am3 board thanks

might as well go with an am3+ mobo. asus maybe?

since you are starting from scratch, have you ever considerd going intel? minimum i52500K with a cheap p67 or z68 board like an asrock?

Unless you love to overclock and love to mess around in the bios the fx chip is the one to get, but for what you are going for with a single gpu the 960t is more than enough, maybe a gtx 560 ti 448 could be up your alley as well.

Not the write place but i noticed Moparman you are from Farmington, me too!thumb.gif I currently don't live there at the moment but it would be nice to get back and out of the city.
