First time water cooling advice.

Thread Starter
My dorm room has really bad air movement, and it quite warm. I run 20-25C higher at school than I do at home, and it is starting to bug me to have fans on 100% just to play bf3. I was looking at this kit.

Here

And then two of these for my 5870's

Here

Is that rad going to be big enough for my system?

Any other ideas for something around the $240 price range?

Could I get away with saving a little money off the bat and just cool my main gpu instead of both right away or is that just being too cheep?

Thanks OCN!

For 240$ you are not going to be able to cool everything.

That 240 rad is good for your cpu only.

For that setup you would need 2x 240 rads to cool.

I would recommend starting with either a solo cpu or 2x gpu loop. With your budget.

So, if I ran 2 240's is there a good place for both rads in the HAF 932 advanced? or will one be top mounted and the other external?

Without modding one would have to be external. You could always mod the bottom for the other one.

A single 360 rad would be fine for a cpu + dual gpu loop, take a look at the RX360 kit. $240 isn't going to be a big enough budget for cooling the gpu's with that kit, but it's not TOO far off. Don't forget you'll need some heatsinks for the ram and vrm's on your gpus, they need cooling too and the universal blocks only cool the die. I did some budget shopping and put together a loop for my i5 and 2x 460's for around $350, and if I had gone with one of the rasa kits it likely would've been slightly cheaper.

I am using all 5 hdd bays on the bottom, and my 5.25" are full as well. Do you think a 140mm on the back would make it closer to what I want?

You could fit a 360 rad up top, just would have to mod a bit. Could always go 240 up top and 120 out the back where the exhaust is.

So it would be better to find a complete water block for the 5870's. And i don't have a good place in my case fora 360, i think the top of my case can fit a 240 and i can fit a 140 on the back... besides that i dont know where else to fit one.

How much fluid would I need to fill a 360?
