Motherboard suggestion

Thread Starter
hey there
i recently upgraded to 960t (from 9950) and im still on same motherboard
im thinking about upgrading mobo too, because ht link on current one is 1ghz only, and i would put that mobo into my second pc (together with 9950)
i dont want to go for extreme overclocking (i will use stock fan, for now) and i would like to try unlocking it into 6core (if possible, of course)
ofc i dont want anything too much expensive

i would also need a ddr3 ram with that, any tips?

(would be cool if you link me @ this site http://www.alza.sk/zakladni-desky-pro-procesory-amd/18853161.htm )

edit: i dont need am3+ mobo (for future upgrade), and crossfire support either
oh and i still have sata II hdd

How much are you willing to spend. I think the Sabertooth is the best AMD motherboard on the market right now and it runs around $190. The Crosshair V is an outstanding board as well with tons of features and goes for $220. Gigabyte has their 990FX boards that are also very good. Id have no problem running any of them but Asus is my favorite.

I recommend getting an AM3+ even though you say you dont need the upgrade path, its still good to have that insurance there for later on down the road. Never know what might happen and since Piledriver is reported to be AM3+, you can always drop one in there when you need a performance boost.

For memory, Im a Corsair fanboy and thats all I buy or recommend.

This board would make for a solid long lasting basic mobo with some ability to overclock and core unlocker.
This RAM if its just a basic web surfer pc, might be able to do this if you only game a little and on low settings.
If you want a nice set of RAM for multi-tasking/gaming application This is the kit to get.

Top that stuff off with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Evo CPU cooler and your set buddy.

If its at all with in your budget I would get the mobo, 8 gig RAM kit, and the cooler and be done with it. Good luck.

I got my board open box for $94 just about a year ago. When I bought it i wasn't looking for anything special, but it seems like a lot of people are using it so it might be worth scoping out. thumb.gif

Also, on your point of ram, gskill is almost always on sale somewhere. DDR3 is so dirt cheap it's not even funny. It almost pays for upgrading a board if you want more ram.

http://www.alza.sk/asus-m4a77td-d137014.htm

would be core unlock and overclock possible on any of those boards?

and what about this ram? http://www.alza.sk/corsair-twinx-xms3-dhx-4gb-kit-pro-intel-core-i7-8xx-d147197.htm

edit: Schmuckley posted this one http://www.alza.sk/asus-m4a89gtd-pro-usb3-d287981.htm
it looks awesome, for a great price, but i found out that its already used, full price is 2x higher

so far this is my fav http://www.alza.sk/gigabyte-970a-d3-d243279.htm
what do you think? i found out that core unlock is possible on this one, and what about overclocking? its also AM3+ and xfire ready

edit2: http://www.alza.sk/gigabyte-970a-ud3-d243280.htm same as previous, but with phase 8+2, worth 10€?
