Sweet X1950XTX - Thanks guys! - Page 3

Ok, here are some more benchmark results...

PCMark05 - 5395 w/ 4gb ram
3DMark05 - 10706
3DMark06 - 6186 ( both 3DMark scores w/ NO OC )

SuperPi 1Mb - 000h 00m 47s
SuperPi 8Mb - 000h 07m 43s
SuperPi 32Mb - 000h 36m 08s ( are these times good? )

I cannot post any of my FutureMark scores because it says there is a problem in detecting my hardware. I'm guessing its the vid card b/c I never had this problem w/ this pc when I had my onboard or my X1600pro installed. Also, and I've read this elsewhere as well, the X1950XTX cannot use any of the newer Catalyst drivers (6.8 or 6.9) so I'm kinda stuck with the 6.7 right now, and of course it is having problems with ATiTool, so as far as OC the card goes, I'm going to have to stick with the 2D/3D switch using Overdrive.

For some reason I cannot finish a run of Aquamark, right when it completes the last part of the bench, I get popped back to the desktop where an error awaits me, something about trying to read or write to something it was not allowed to. I dunno.

I'm also going to try and get a run at Sandra today when I leave to pick up my son (it takes quite a while to run all those tests) and they should be done by the time I get back, I'll post what I get then. Later guys...

Well, I figured it had something to do with the X1950 and/or the drivers for it. When I closed out CCC alltogether, I got a complete system lockup instead of the error mssg. I've yet to try it after closing CLI from taskmngr, perhaps that will help.

No matter how much RAM you have, it's a good idea to have some page file.

Great rig, though. Bench that baby!

what is teh big deal about clearing your page file? its better to have it set at twice the amount of ram you have (8GB for u)

That only applies when you have smaller amounts or RAM. When yuo have a lot of RAM, one or two GB should be just fine

Yes I was just going to say something like that. It's a bad rule and shouldn't be used as it only applies to a limited number of situations. Simply think of it as page file + physical ram = total ram. With 2GB of ram as a gamer a nice page file size seems to be 200mb. If you're more into photoshop and other design programs you might want something in the area of 500MB-2GB.
