G80 leaked pics!!! 8800GT and 8800GTX !!! - Page 4

One thing is for sure, your gonna need a full tower case to have one.. very long...

please don't tell me they will require watercooling?

There are 2 power conenctors because they take over twice as many watts as the G70... anywhere from 150-300W depending on idle/load. Don't believe me? google it =/

Holding off on a 1000w PSU because 1000w isnt gonna be enough for SLI 8800GTX, going to need a 700W + a external 600ish w... SO LAME...

If I'm not mistaken...the pics with the water cooling couplers would be the GTX...

At this rate there's just going to merge the two plugs so all new cards will have a 12-pin power connector

i believe you would be correct there.....

but i think if it has to be watercooled, someone will bring out something like the tidewater for it, and then you dont have to w/c your whole system

I'll wait for the actual release specs to get all excited and/or angry LOL

Given that fact that it would be near impossible to sell a retail card with the requirement of water cooling since A) so few people actually use it, and B) it would NEVER go through a pre-built which is where they make a LOT of money......this has prototype written all over it....and the retail releases will be vastly different.

I am sick of hardware/software developers having the mentality that no matter what they do we will buy their product. This is actually pissing me off more than the current gas prices.

Alienware watercools (or did) their top-end ALX systems, so water cooling in prebuilds is not unheard of. Also, all you guys who are ***** about power usage: This is how computers have always been! They keep using more power. It used to be a 250w would power even the most demanding systems. It will keep growing untill chip techonlogy advances and we can start using smaller fabs, such as 65nm and 45nm.

Also, I think the new fan looks great, if a bit ugly, but I'm sure that can be changed. Also, all you people who say that the heatsink isnt good eough: You have no idea how much heat this GPU makes, or how much needs to be removed, so saying the heatsink isnt "good enough" is stupid, because its obviosly good enough, or nVidia would not be using it Even if its not good enough to alow killer overlocks, thats what after market is for

The chip tech is there they are just too lazy to change the fab. There is no reason for them to let the power use get this crazy.
