That's all well and good, but timing seems to be the big issue here. If Keplar gets delayed too much, it's shine may be dulled by the HD8xxx's. If I were AMD, I'd be watching patiently, getting the 8xxx's ready, and then dropping them right after Keplar's release. This is assuming the 8xxx's will see a performance increase (which is totally unkown at this time).

It's not how much better it is than your last product, it's how much better it is than your competition's last product.

An interesting side effect of this would be a somewhat synchronized release schedule of AMD and nVidia's graphics cards. I can't know for sure what kind of effect that might have, but it could disallow price gouging on initial release.

Exactly. I would like to see both sides trading blow for blow.

That said, I don't want nvidia to fail. I just want them to shut up and do their job, instead of flapping their gums! If kepler is good, I welcome it. Bring it on, IMO.

To me that the problem. Everyone thinks AMD/ATI is a underdog when really AMD is a heavyweight boxer that goes 12 rounds with Nvidia lately and the score card is right down the middle after the last round. Thinking about selling my GTX580 and looking into a 6000 series card or maybe wait and see the whole 7000 series line looks like.

Uh? AMD has been beleaguered over the past year with their CPU division, and on the GPU side...nvidia has a higher discrete market share percentage. Currently AMD has designs for all 3 upcoming consoles and a higher overall GPU market share (including discrete and OEM sales).

But nvidia has more money to throw around compared to AMD's GPU division, and has had the fastest card since 2009, so yes, AMD IS the underdog.

This is slightly off topic but I can't see anyone would think otherwise, but thats kind of why I like rooting for AMD. They are the underdog who hasn't had the fastest GPU or highest discrete share since 2009, i'm happy to see them do well. The other reasons nvidia has a sour taste in my mouth lately is their guerilla trash marketing campaign, and their CEO who seems like a complete arrogant jerk. I do like NV's products, but there's not much to like with the company because of those 2 reasons (IMO)

I don't know about both sides financial budgeting, R&D, etc but I'm almost 100% sure AMD has had the fastest card for at least 2011 and 2010 (5970 & 6990). I believe the 6990 is still the fastest card to this date

Found out some info from another OCN member who went to a live Q&A with the CEO today.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1208362/q-and-a-session-with-nvidia-ceo

Looks like six weeks for release.

In the meantime expect AMD to hold onto current pricing without any rival.

I said upcoming consoles, wii U, xbox 720 and PS4. Ps4 i'm not 100% sure on but rumors indicated AMD. It may be NV though who knows? NV didn't work out well for them last time due to not having the ability to have a shared memory pool between the cpu/gpu

trying to buff up Kepler by bringing Ageia to the hardware.

What does that even mean? Ageia turned into PhysX and Ageia cards aren't needed because the nvidia cards can execute them (although Physx processing tends to munch up some processing power). Are they adding a dedicated Physx processor to improve the performance on physx applications? Physx isn't even that big for nvidia to go around adding dedicated segments like if it was tesselation...

But w/e, either they're adding them or that speculation is way off.
