Only thing we know about kepler is that it is LATE. Late means bad. Hope it is not another fermi, but if the ageia thing is true, then Nvidia are loosing the plot.

One little note, Ageiea or w/e is just PhysX. Consider the benchmarks of adding a weak card as a PhysX GPU for gaming benchmarks - something with ~96 CUDA cores (GT 240) added a significant performance gain to pretty much everything for PhysX benching. So suppose they use 10% of the die for PhysX, that's still a 90% increase in transistor count, 20% + clockspeed gain. There's no way it's only 30% faster than a GTX 580.

Also, AMD increases transistor count ~50%, plus clockspeed, gets 40% gain over last gen. Somehow it's nonsense to think Nvidia will do better with doubling their transistor coun AND their CUDA core countt? rolleyes.gif

I don't think anyone doubts that a card with 1024 CUDA cores will beat a 7970 easily, but it will definitely not cost $500. Remember that slide from way back that put a 512 bit GK110 as a GTX 590 replacement?

If that card actually exists it'll be priced around $800-$900 USD, and going by the Australian pricing of the 7970, $1200 AUD frown.gif
It's really irritating 'cause the GTX 580 only costs about 7% more over here...

i doubt it will demolish the 7970 .. beat it? probably .. or probably not .. but it will be late just like fermi was .. and by then amd will have something a couple months down the line ..


anyway .. cannot wait to see what nvidia offers just for the tech aspect of it

It's nonsense to believe that they are capable of doubling their core count. It's a 30% process shrink, AMD increased core count by 25%, and decreased die size by 6%.
