If you already picked up the x-Fi card, consider not getting the D1. Save up for a bit longer and go for one of the top dogs (TiHD or STX) for substantial gains, otherwise, you'll go to the D1 and want another upgrade before you know it.
Ive been fighting with my DG for over 6 months at this point...so yeah.
Ill probably get the STX eventually.
Im ordering a set of Sennie HD595s in a few months, and Im going to be expanding my desktop speakers as well.
Ive never been impressed with Creative Cards, but $50 for something to both upgrade from the DG, and replace it with was a little too sweet to pass up.
Even if it is only a mediocre jump.

Top dogs the Titanium HD is excellent for games and very good for music/movies and the Xonar STX is excellent for music/movies and very good for gaming , so in your case go Xonar over Creative.
I do play games a fair bit.
My tower does a lot of everything, hence why I bought a DG originally.
