Why not a 7970 you say? http://www.overclockersclub.com/revi...950_3gb/14.htm

Is the maximus board the best pci 16x 3.0 board? Would it make more sense to go with something thats not MATX? you tell me!

I am looking for better deals or better parts. If you suggest a 7970, please state your reasoning! If you recommend something different please post!

Thanks in advance!

I don't think a single 7950 is going to be good enough to run Eyefinity for BF3. I'd probably crossfire them and get a PCIe 3.0 ready board with dual x8 slots.
1) What case are you planning on using? If you're gonna use a case that takes ATX (and bigger) board, you shouldn't use an mATX board (less room for expansion, etc.)

2) I'm assuming you made a mistake, but make sure you're getting a 2500k, not the 2500. It's correct in the threat title but not in what you proposed.

If I am building an eyefinity BF3 rig right now. its my sig rig. I went with an i5 2500k and the ASUS p8z68-v PRO/GEN3 and the i5 2500k form microcenter. That board was highly reocmended by most of OCN.com when I asked just about a week ago. I went to microcenter to get them. I was able to get the i5 for $179.99+tax($195.00 total) and the mobo was $50 off when buying an i5 2500k so the mobo was only $159.99(like $175.00 total) and it was a steal! this has turned out to be a perfect board so far!

For RAM It is pointless to use 16 GB on a gaming PC. You should not use all 4 dimm's it will limit your ability to overclock in most case's not to mention that for half the price of a 16 gig kit you can get a much much faster 8 gig kit and still not be able to max it out in gaming. I can't will tons of stuff running. For RAM get G.Skill2x4 gig 1600 kit its worth every penny! CAS is 8 and its lighning fast! G.Skill come's with a lifetime warrenty.

I'm picking up an SSD in a few days, I asked around and read ALOT and it all came down to one of two SSD's the SAMSUNG 830, or the Crucial M4. I am going with the Crucial M4 128gig SSD's for $175.00 off newegg. You can get a 64gig version for about $100 bucks all over the place. In bench's this is one of the fastest drive's and another highly recommended part on OCN.com

For Eyefinity your going to want SLI/Xfire. There's no way around it. Unless your ok with low-med settings, no eye candy, and "meh" FPS for money spent. If your using a single card stick with a single but slightly larger monitor. If you want that 3 screen sexy beast then you should get a second card. My 6950/6970's in Xfire will do pretty good at Eyefinity(and perform better than a single 7970/50 or 580GTX) However, For my rig, I dont wanna buy 2 more GPU's(and water blocks) everytime I turn around, so I'm waiting to see nvidia's 6XX offerings. I think getting 3gig cards make's much more sense if you know yoru going to game on eyefinity.

Hope this helps you out some.

Get a Crucial M4, Samsung 830, or Corsair Performance Pro instead of the Pyro.

I'd say get an ATX board if you want to expand in the future.

You will probably be fine with 8GB of RAM. GSkill is fine.

Get a 700-800W PSU if you end up going crossfire. Check out the PSU subsection for advice on that end.

Awsome rig but for eyefinity go for 7970 or crossfire 7950's thumb.gif . If you can hold back for 8-10 weeks the new intel ivy bridge cpu's will be available with the Z77 chipset, And are at the same price point as the current 1155 cpu's.

solely for gaming and running bf3 ? you dont need an ssd. the only time that speed will matter is if you join an ingame match. every map change youll still have to sit and wait for the game to start.
makes no sense to buy an ssd for bf3.
