No amount of software updates could fix the weak screens on the storm....I went through 3 in 2 months. Also having to put a piece of paper under the battery just so the screen button would work was a mega fail.

I wouldn't wish the blackberry storm onto my worst enemies it was THAT bad IMO.

Blackberry has always equated to work phone for me. Unless you don't really care and a blackberry is plenty for you, in which case you could probably save money by getting an older version.

They cannot compete with iOS or Android, or probably even Windows Phone for that matter. They were late to the party and their app selection is atrocious because of that.

Its a closed OS. More locked down than iOS. ANDROID works because the Dec community loves open source. iOS works because its the single best selling phone, and a very decent OS.

This is another proprietary mess, in which devs must BEG RIM to allow them to release a simple app.

Samsung should sue Apple, if Apple don't sue over this design.

If RIM thinks they can take customers who went to android/ios back, they are out of their mind. BB is still pretty huge here in Canada, sitting in any lecture (WLU) all you can see is white macs and low end black berry devices with their physical keyboards. It seems like everyday on facebook, someone I know who used to worship blackberry has gone with an iOS or android powered device.

At this point it simply does not matter how good their new OS is. Android and iOS have managed to create a brand image for themselves. That is why people buy their products over and over again. We're at a point where the best does not mean it will sell. What is most popular is not the best at all. Take a look at music, movies, shows. Justin Bieber is all the rave these days, before it was the Jonas Brothers (where are they now? You used to hear about them every single day). The twilight series made tons of money. Last but not least, we got Jersey Shore as one of the most popular television shows. RIM tried to spark sales of their tablet by featuring celebrities in commercials...even at 200 dollars they were hard to get off the shelves.

Same situation with windows phone, it's not that it is dated software/hardware wise. The brand image is just nowhere near where iOS and Android have achieved.

iOS enables smartphone features in a dumbphone format. It is incredible easy to use, hence the adoption rate is sky high. As long as you are alive, chances are you will figure it out within hours if not minutes.

That leaves Android, typically for people looking for a more open device to personalize. Usually android users are more tech savvy and know what they are getting.

It looks nice, but with this phone, its really going to come down to if they can make software to compete with IOS, and Android. You can have the best hardware in the world but if your software sucks, then the device sucks.
