Bit of a dilemma- trade one of my ati radeon 6970 for two nvidia 470 gtx in sli

I need opinions. I currently have two ati 6970 in crossfire. I was asked if I wanted to trade one of my ati 6970 for two of my friends 470 gtx sli. What are your thoughts. Its this a great deal for me? I cannot seem to find benchmarks on comparing these cards. I am fully aware of the nvidia 470 as it can get really hot ( I had 480's in sli lol). I was thinking of doing the trade and keeping the 470 gtx sli and selling my extra 6970 for money. I just want to know how much of an impact its going to have going from 2x 6970 to 2x 470

470 SLI is faster than one 6970. 6970 xfire is faster than 470 SLI.

Nah, I'd keep your cards. Unless you fold but I mean, a 470 is like a 560ti and a 560ti is like what, a 6870?

If you have the power and air flow to support SLI 470s, they will be faster in most situations than a single 6970.

However, crossfire 6970s are considerably better than SLI GTX 470s, especially at higher resolutions.

If I was considering splitting the 6970s up anyway, I'd go for it. If I only had a single gaming system and intended to keep both my 6970s together, I wouldn't want this trade.

Going to depend on the game, of course, but the overall difference is about 20-25% in favor of the 6970s.

6970 vs 470 SLI
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/292?vs=312

and 6970 CF vs 470 SLI (what you're considering moving to + profits from 6970)
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/298?vs=312

I think it really comes down to what you do with your computer. If you're gaming, consider your current performance vs something a bit weaker. If you're folding or something, check out some stats for each of the cards. It's hard to make a call without knowing what you use your cards for.
