Do I have enough room?

Thread Starter
Hello,
I just recently decided to upgrade my gpu cooling from the stock gtx 580 sc cooler to the arctic cooling accelero xtreme plus cooler. However, after i ordered them ( i got 2 for SLI) i realized that my case might be too small. Im using my sig rig and ive never actually seen one of these in person so i have only a faint idea of how big they are. My main concern is that i dont have enough room in between my second card and psu. Feel free to check out my profile pic to see how close they are. If you guys think i wont have enough room please post. Thanks

No, I'm afraid not. The cooler is a triple slot cooler and you don't have room for that on the bottom card with how your cards, motherboard and case are laid out.

Glad they work for you. After I posted I did a little more looking closely at pics of your case, and I thought they might come close to fitting but if they did it would have been down to the mm and maybe have put undue stress on the card so I didn't want to go back and change my answer. I figured that since it looked to be so close it might've been better to have you cancel the order because I said they wouldn't work then have you get them and possibly damage something trying to install them because I said they would work.

Either way glad you got em installed, the temps should be great now because those are just about the best aircoolers available. smile.gif

Yes they were defidently down to a hair from being too big. Temps went from 92c on my top card in skyrim down to a max of 63c, so im pretty satisfied, and they are so quiet sometimes i have to check the fans to make sure they're all working. Not to mention my GPUs no longer turn my room into an oven biggrin.gif

Should have bought Antec 620's....freaking 45C max on my card...granted its not SLI but still. Bet with the heatspreader you'd be around 50C max...

63C for the accelero still seems high from what I've heard... Might want to look into that. Maybe repaste

Well I didnt install the VRAM heatsinks last night, like an idiot. I was rushed because one of the small cylinder things (dont know what theyre called) snapped halfway off my card so i didn't know if it would still even work or not plus im not really used to spreading paste on GPUs, so i used the grain of rice method like the CPU. is it even necessary to install the Heatsinks on the VRAM? But anyway 63c on the top card is normal for the accelero xtreme plus under full load on both cards.

It's not high if you're running Furmark in Xtreme Burn Mode. Since nobody is saying what they are running, and at what settings, for a "full load", or that "my card maxes out at 45C" doing what?, it's not really comparing apples to apples.

I'm guilty myself, of saying that my card hits whatever temp. at load, or full load, or it maxes out at a certain temperature. I'm trying to be a bit more specific now, but within reason.
Trouble is, there are just so many variables, such as airflow, ambient temp., etc.

What I'd like to do to compare the maximum load temp., is to specify a given test, and the settings used. This would help to provide a better comparison between coolers.
