Not sure if its your vision but there is clearly an SLI in front of what I stated, so you are wrong one many many levels.

I gota say that im slightly dissapointed to hear of the performance though,i was expecting a lot more performance wise.
I know that newer drivers should bring more performance and im sure it will be much better then, but i would have expected to see more of a distance at launch between AMD next gen and Nvidia' last gen in benchmarks, cant remember which thread i was reading yesterday but one guy was saying that a 7970 was not far behind Sli GTX580,thats clearly not the case at all.
As long as the price is right then i think these should do pretty well considering they support 3 monitors on one card thumb.gif

The 7900s support 6 displays, and not 3 on one card. Just fixing for accuracy. If nvidia came up with a one card solution (outside of a 590 or something) then I'd be happy to go with em. Until then I'm going with the single card eyefinity stuff.

7950 is coming today. smile.gif

Not that these would be within my price range. Weeelll ... perhaaaaps ... if I would see 6Gig model with 6x DP and -25 or -33% discount I might flip out and get one.

Wait so you're saying these cards are out of your price range but you want a 6x display port model..........

That's a bit ironic dontcha think? 6x dp monitors is gonna cost twice what a 7950 does, and that's assuming you're buying monitors as cheap as 150$.

Hey,thats purely down to my ignorance,srry tongue.gif

6 screen support is pretty damn awesome, however i have seen a few people post on here in last 7 days of bad screen tearing in games when anything over 2 monitors...and im not talking vsync issue tongue.gif
Sure that will be fixed with drivers though devil-smiley-019.gif

Fermi does horrible in scaling and loses or ties with something that costs half as much. Three 6950s unlocked @ $600 vs three 580s @ $1400 and it can barely keep up. You also have to have a SB chip overclocked to 4.8 to even get decent usage of SLI...

The huge advantage the single 580 had over a single 6970 is lost in multi-GPU scaling. Learn the difference between multi-GPU setups and single GPU setups before commenting again.

He said SLI 580 vs 6990

You post 3 way SLI 580 vs 6990 + 6970 trifire

2 vs 1 =/= 3 vs 3

7950 is a beast. LOL at those complaining of performance when its smoking a $580 at a lower price point. I don't understand how the mind of truly dedicated customers work... I stick with the facts, whoever is best is best, whoever has the best price/performance has it, no amount of fanfare can change the facts.

I'm hoping 600 series brings more to the table, we need competition... well kinda, games aren't really making a lot of this useful these days...

What you posted is completely irrelevant.

He said SLI GTX 580's vs a 6990

that's 2 580's vs 2 6970's mashed into 1 board.

You posted benchmarks of 2 580's vs a 6990+6970. That's 2 vs 3.

He's right, you're wrong.

Just look at the 2nd to last bench of bf3 w/ sli 580's vs crossfire 6970's. The 580's get a higher max than the 6970's, and that's exactly what a 6990 is. Weaker even since they are tuned down to fit on one board.

But hey, at least you figured out what a 6990 is, unlike the clueless one above you...

How about you take a look at the entire right hand colum as well as the bottom two benchmarks that you posted and get back to me.

2 580's beat a 6990. End of story. You're the only person arguing differently.

lachen.gif If you knew how to read, you'd see that the 580 SLI lost to the 6970 CF...
So how does two 580s beat a 6990 again?

Let's not even get into the huge difference in minimum fps which is even more important.
