Setting up Eyefinity.

post #1 of 6

Just got my 2 additional montiors for a eyefinity setup. Im using 3*6970. I am not able to get the screen on all the monitors. If i use the DVI on 2 cards (1 and 2 on card 1 and 1 on card 2) i get the screen over all the monitors but im not able to select all three in CCC, this is probbably because you need to only use 1 card right?

Now if i use DVI 1 and 2 on card 1 and Display Port 1 on the same card this should work right, nope by doing this i only get two monitors showing picture, the last monitor i connect will not get any signal.

So how do you get eyefinity up and running, what ports on what card.

Thanks.

Thats how you do it. All need to be connected to the same card. The display port adapter needs to be "Active". Sounds like thats your problem.

This for example;

You only need a single link DVI with the 6000 series cards. Just an FYI because the dual link adapters are way more expensive.

Yes all you need to do is to connect to run 1 card, and connect all 3 via tri-fire.

I also run Eyefinity, Well its mostly just 3 monitors. I no longer stretch is across because it was a sore on my eyes. So i use the middle screen as my main, and the left as secondary for the internet, skype, vent or whatever i need to look at while im gaming. And i use the right screen as my "monitor" monitor. I put like my CPU monitor, my GPU graphs and temps, my ram usage, some side widgets such as my network connection etc etc. Just to keep an eye on all my temps and OCs.

I used to just run 1 6850 for the eyefinity and it ran fine, now i just bought a new 6870 and currently Crossfiring the 6870+6850 and i love it.

One thing i would recommend into getting is a 3 monitor mount, i got one off amazon for less that $100 and i absolutely love. If you have small desk space like i do, it really clears up a lot of room by eliminating the bases.

Well, good luck! and ENJOY

Could be, its just a plain Deltaco Mini DP to DVI. So how do i find out what adapter is active and whats not? All stores in Norway just name them Mini Display Port to DVI (would rather not have to order a 15$ cable from the US and spend a week waiting for it.

It does not have to be dual link. It did on 5xxx series cards but not the 6xxx series cards. It just has to be "Active"

I would get whatever is cheapest usually the single link DVI is cheaper then the dual link DVI. I got mine for like $25 from a store near my house. You shouldnt have to pay much more then that.
