If that's the number it'll just show how useless and worthless that game is.

heh that is kind of why I thought I might help out even though I am not really too concerned about the status of HL3. They need the help.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see 20,000 or so playing the game on a regular weekend...likely some of these 30,000 players they have signed up.

I doubt it...30,000 people downloading the same game might cause some issues, but for example Skyrim set a Steam record of over 300,000 players playing at once. Steam stops caring about you once you load the game...as long as you've already got the game activated and they know you are supposed to be running it anyway. With a few exceptions, you can pull the plug on your modem once you have the game running and be fine.

If it does even better! Then valve has to acknowledge how many people still love HL2, and will have to release some sort of statement about the group or HL3.

Well there are currently >70,000 players playing Counter Strike and >55,000 playing CSS right now so I doubt it.

I love the Half-Life series as much as the next guy (played through the series several times) but this whole idea just seems very baby-ish to me. They'll announce news on HL3 when they're good and ready, you can't rush art.

Score one for not reading the article.

They don't want anything rushed. Up until this point, Valve has released ZERO information concerning HL3. These people that are signed up for this sit-in only want acknowledgment that the franchise isn't dead, and that they can still look forward to an Episode 3 and/or Half-Life 3. They aren't demanding a demo by the end of the year, or a trailer by next week or anything of the sort, they just want some sort of information telling them that the game is still scheduled to be completed and released and isn't going to be forgotten.

Do people honestly think they would let the series die? And yea I didn't read the source, my b.

maybe im looking at this from the wrong angle, but why does it seem like people think its their right to know whats going on with HL3? i understand its been a long time coming and all, but its not like valve is obligated to say anything, are they?

good on people for organize and trying to get a point across in a positive way thumb.gif just seems like gamers have been a little too spoiled as of late, and just expect developers to bow to their every whim. redface.gif

With Valve's recent focus on multiplayer games and literally zero word of anything HL related since 2006 (?), anything is possible.
