Sapphire 6870 + 6850 Crossfire BSOD!! HELP

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Just as the title says....

I recently bought a Sapphire Flex 6870 to crossfire with my sapphire 6850.

When i run the 6870 alone, i get no problems at all, but once i throw in the 6850 and bridge them together... My pc will boot to windows, then right as it loads up it will freeze then go BSOD. I did get it working for a couple minutes one time and ran MSI Afterburner to see how they were running but it seemed like the 6850 info was not showing up correctly.

Could anyone throw me some insight please?

I will just put everything in one post.

Uninstall then re-install drivers, if that doesn't fix it then follow thorough to get rid of driver/registry/profile related issues;

  • Uninstall all tweaking applications such as Afterburner, Trixx etc if you have it in the system. Select "no" when prompted to keep settings.

  • Uninstall Catalyst. Select "Express Uninstall". Uinstall CAP too.

  • Delete these folder;
  • C:\user\Program files or (x86)\ ATI or AMD.
  • C:\user\ProgramData\ATI or AMD (need to show hidden files).

  • Turn off UAC.
    Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > change User Account Control Settings > move the slider to bottom > restart PC.

  • Disable ULPS
  1. Go to regedit (start > search programs and files > "regedit").
  2. In drop down menu: find file > type "enableulps".
  3. For ALL instances (keep pressing F3) change the "1" value to a "0".
  4. Reboot PC.

You must disable ULPS then proceed to enable "unofficial overclocking" and never override Afterburner with Catalyst installation. Make sure each card overclok is stable before put them in crossfire. Power supply and temperature will throttle the clocks and voltage too affecting performance. Make sure of that for crossfire to work correctly.

I think the first thing we should ask is if you managed to write down the BSOD code,see if anyone can shine a light.

Has anyone ever successfully crossfired before? what where the steps that you took?
post #10 of 10
Trying swaping the the cards around.
Then do another driver sweep in safe mode and install the 12.1 driver.
Then make sure cross fire is enabled in catylist and that it says its enabled in gpu-z.

Also if you have another cross fire joiner try that since iv had one that has been bad before.
