That is a great deal, the cpu, motherboard and video card for $130?

955 and a 4890>anything else mentioned in this thread

I'm mainly referring to folding and heavily threaded apps like video encoding, but I started this thread for input not to argue or make idiotic claims like netburst > bulldozer.

I got a similar deal last summer; Q6600 + ASUS P5K-E Wi-fi board + 4GB DDR2 + GTX 460 768MB + case, all for $160.  Some used item bundle deals can be really good deals!

You can now fit a decent gfx card in your budget like this 6770 $80 AMIR

Whoops i was looking at your total "caseless" price. Nothing to see here.

With that priority, I think the four core FX would win out against a dual core (without Hyper-threading) Sandy Bridge, but I don't do those tasks so I probably have less of an idea on each CPU's performance there than you do, so I'd double check benchmarks or something.

Keep in mind though that I think Bulldozer likes to draw the power when overclocked, so I wouldn't pair it with a questionable PSU if you go that route.

regardless of what you can and cant do with it, Im always amazed with the OCN community to price together these ultra inexpensive computers thumb.gif

I just wish windows 7 wasnt so expensive, Its not an issue for me but whenever I build a pc for a family member its always a pain checking off the first $100 for windows. Very rarely do I get someone ok with running linux.
