Strange internet speeds?

So I just got comcast hooked up in my new apartment a few days ago, and I have been getting very, very, VERY dismal speeds on my PC. If I run the speed test app on my phone while connected to the wifi it gets about 5-7 mbs depending on where I am in the house, but on my computer this is what I'm getting 135
On my laptop the speeds are normal as well, and this problem just started occurring...I had comcast at my old place with the same hardware and I was getting the speeds I was promised.
On occasion it'll work pretty well, got up to 7.8 mbs last night during one test, and a few at 3 mbs.
I'm running on wireless on all of my devices, and only getting this problem on my desktop.
Already determined it's not a driver conflict...and not sure what else it could be other then my wireless card dying on me.

Could be the wireless card starting to die as you already diagnosed. Try hooking up via a wired connection if that's at all possible. If the speed is better then it sounds like either your card is going down, the connection is not getting a great signal via wifi, or that the internet is just being wonky. When we first had at&t cable internet installed here we were using old(very old) cable wires, we had strange connection issues like this. I called them up and they sent out a technician and re-cabled all the connections in the house at no charge. Speeds almost doubled via a wired connection in my place. And the wifi speeds seemed to standardize instead of being so choppy and inconsistent.

Then a friend of mine gave me his wifi dongle, and it was far superior to the small one I had purchased. It vastly improved my connection speed and reliability.

First step is hooking up via wire and seeing if the connection is any better, if not get support out there! If they say everything is fine and it seems to be the wireless card, then upgrade that.

Good luck!

Funny how much the card can change the speeds your getting! It really does make a huge difference. Glad you got it resolved.
