Can you upgrade the Acer Aspire One AOD270 to 2gb ram? - Page 2

Thanks for mentioning Meego. I am aware of this distribution. Unfortunately Linux MeeGo is discontinued.

Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit (or better kernel 3.2 and Lubuntu, Xubuntu, etc) have a closed source cedartrail driver included too. However, the 2D and 3D performance is not great and WebGL is not working. Besides, I can't upgrade to a higher version, due to the closed source drivers for kernel 3.2.

For now, I have to keep knocking on Intel's door, I am afraid.

Thanks for your help! thumb.gif

well, all good things must come to an end. (speaking to MeeGo.)

The driver that Ubuntu uses is a ported version of the MeeGo drivers, which while not MESA, are as close as you will get on CedarTrail (While Proprietary, they are not Official Intel (i.e. Mesa)). The only solutions I would suggest at this point is to either wait and pray for Mesa drivers (unlikely), or possibly look at disabling webgl if possible (sort of curing the disease by killing the patient).

*note this is only theory. I have no idea of what webgl is, how it works, or why it is needed, but Linux/Unix being what they are, if it is important you can almost guarantee that there are multiple versions out there, so maybe try a openCL or anything that would transfer the workload to the CPU and maybe that will mute the issue. Sort of like using an insulin pump. Can't fix the disease, but you can make it a non issue (broad strokes, it is still lethal).*
