H80 Pump Noise. Should I wait?

Thread Starter
I just received my 2nd H80 today and it is up and running. My last one had a terrible pump noise that was unbearably loud.

THIS one is doing the same thing, BUT when I turn the case on its side, it goes quiet. Should I keep it here for awhile and will it go away, or should I just be sad again and return it.

Thoughts and ideas?

Have you tried tapping on the pump?

I had noise comming from H60, tapping it solved the noise problem for about two weeks, then it came back.
Then I've remounted the rad 45 degrees, so the tubes are now horisontal like oo inestead of 8, and the noise is gone.

Its the actual thing that goes on the CPU socket that's making the noise. (idk if that is the pump or not, im guessing so)...i've tried tapping it but no luck

I've read here that during the manufacturing process air bubbles form in the loop and radiator and that before you install, it is a very good thing to thoroughly shake your radiator to get rid of the air bubbles.

Please make sure your pump power supply is not connected to any motherboard header. Plug it directly to the molex using an adapter. That should resolve the whining issue that you're currently experiencing.
