Damn...

Yes it will.

All we P67 users need is a BIOS update.

ASUS has had one available for months now. BIOS update for 22nm CPUs.

Why would you need a new motherboard?

IB will work on H67, H61, P67 and Z68 chipsets.

I'd say that's a hint that it overclocks extremely well, perhaps better than sandy does given he used all caps on the word GREAT... wink.gif

If it's (ivy) less than a 15% improvement, I may wait until the next. Like some have said, wonder how it'll overclock.

It will even be less than 15%.

Ivy Bridge is the Sandy Bridge architecture on a smaller fab process.

The biggest jumps in performance happen from new architecture to new architecture, which isn't the case with SB and IB.

I think Intel said to expect around 6% IPC gain. This shows ~8-9%. If it can OC 10% higher (according to some rumors, it can hit 6ghz with something like an H100), well there's the 15% right there. But, when you consider that even a 15% performance gain translates into maybe 5% difference in gaming, best case.. it's probably not worth it.

6ghz, I don't see it happening.

With some LN2? Maybe. but not with consumer-grade coolers.
